Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 25th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Silly o'clock here, I've been awake since 3 so I got up to make a cuppa.
Hugs to Molly, Mrs Mix, Miffy & LW.
Looking on the bright side, one of the problems with my right eye is extreme long-sightedness, so I can now read the blue signs on the motorway, even if I am driving on the A4. I'm also thinking of wearing a bikini to work today, this will have 2 advantages, firstly I shouldn't get too hot & secondly, the sight may stop quite so many teachers rushing in because they haven't organised their lessons in time.
Scrambled egg for breakfast, but not til 5:30 & lamb chops for tea with mash & HG sprouts.
Have a good day everone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow.

Was awake at 5, stayed there till 5.45. Cuppa now. Fed the cat, he only jumped on me once last night, that's a result!:T
Seeing my Nurse this morning. Feeling really heavy now, and have a headache today too.:o

Seeing my Dad today, he seems okay. Given me a list again, the things he asks for! Sushi, pickled herrings, camembert... it goes on and on! You'd think he wasn't fed in that home, although I know he is!:rotfl:

Need to get my car cleaned today as it goes back tomorrow. I will be on my scooter and using cabs after that.

Not decided what's for dinner tonight yet. Still trying to use up the freezer so I can swap with DD. One drawer empty so far!

Hope everyone is okay. JG Hope Eliza is still being a good baby!

    Have a good day all!

  • Morning!

Not too much OS today, just the washing to do. Midwife is visiting today, and I have the morning school run. DH is collecting DS from his after school club as is starts getting dark at that time and I don't like the idea of walking home in the dark.

Dinner tonight is LO Stew and dumplings :)

Hope you all have a good day x

HH I like the bikini idea :D
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Morning Hester, Hilstep, Julie and all who follow,

I had to have a laugh at the thought of you working in a bikini Hester!

Hugs to all in need, especially LW, Molly, MrsMix, Miffy and hope you are feeling happier today Bramble.

Have been given the afternoon off today to go to DD2s parents afternoon. why can't her school have them in the evening like everyone else! It is really difficult for a lot of parents to get there, (it is a secondary school!)

Went to ballet last night and my legs are killing me!

Tea tonight is pot luck from the freezer, we did that last night as well, I put so much stuff in over Christmas. I had turkey curry yesterday!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning all, before and after!

Not a bad day yesterday. Made a nice Shepherd's Pie and doing Ocean Pie today. Got Level One of the FlyLady list done - that's all I'm aiming for while I'm full of lurgy - and will be doing the same today. A NSD as I didn't go anywhere except Church. Not going there today (there's a funeral) but think I may have to buy more hot blackcurrant 'medicine-drink' - shall have to check and see what's in the medicine drawer ...

Hope everyone has the kind of day they're wishing for.

Need to do a wash tonight, and get on airer.

Unfortunatly it looks like I have passed my cold onto my dad :(

    Hugs to Miffy

    hester the bikini idea :rotfl:

Morning everyone. Veeery tired here, OH just left and I need to leave in 15 minutes but am just sitting herre zonked out. I'm a bit pee-ed off as some plonkaaa on ebay has opened a "where's my stuff you fraud!!" case on me even though it hasn't physically had time to be delivered yet. I'm considering emailing the proof of postage to buyers as soon as it's sent so they know not to even bother trying to pull a fast one! GRRR!

    Afternoon everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Wet underfoot and chilly here this morning, was awful day yesterday rained continously from 7.30am and was still raining last time I looked out of the window at 6.30pm. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was "heart attack" on a plate for the menfolk and I had mushroom omlette and salad. Remembered to get the chicken out of the freezer last night to defrost - tonight's dinner will be coq au vin, mash, and veg, and if I remember will make a jam and cream filling for victoria sponge and that will be dessert. Only working until 1.15pm today and my paid working week is done, am really pleased as this week has been a bit of a nightmare was horrendous again yesterday and we had to shut and lock the doors to stop people coming in and ask some people to come back today/tomorrow.:o

Have almost run out of milk, need cheese and mushrooms too, so will call into SM on way home from work to pick up these few bits - but won't get anything else as storecupboards and freezers still quite full and I spent more than enough last week so will make do with what we have. :D

DS1 has decided not to go to rugby anymore, am hoping he may think about it and then decide he would like to go back, if they can get a team together.

DH has suggested we have people over for eats and drinks Sat night as we didn't really see that many people over Xmas/New Year - so I will just do a buffett, won't be going overboard and will be shopping from the storecupboards/freezers first. I have ingredients to make HM sausage rolls, prawn vol au vents, think I will make pavlovas and profiteroles for dessert, so just need to make all the other bits - will do open rolls, quiche, dips, cheese board, olives, breadsticks, hot chicken pieces - don't think anyone will starve.

Have normal household chores to do once on my days off, best go and get myself into gear.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

  • Morning all

Need to get showered and dressed a bit earlier today-had visitors and important phone calls yesterday when I had slept in and was in my nightie! Breakfast ended up as lunch and dinner was at Al's Tikka Grill mmmmmm!

Warmer here today, but drizzly I suspect. I have to go into town this afternoon for a mammogram-don't you just love them! I win over OH though because he has just had his bowel cancer screening kit! ;)

I have an M&S voucher from a survey site so I am going to look at jeans as I like the per una ones and I still have money on my Costa card that DS bought me for Christmas so a nice coffee beckons. And I can go home with DH as the clinic is close to his office.

As for tea not sure yet......maybe something from M&S?

Anyway have a good day all.
