Good choice I think, however things will not happen so quickly that you will be shot of E.ON by 1 Feb. The process takes about 4 - 6 weeks after submitting your switch, so best let the 1 Feb payment through.

The thing to do is make sure you have provided a customer read for 6 Feb then check your credit balance. Once you have been notified of the start date is the time to engage with E.On if you want the Direct Debit to stop. Before you cancel the dd mandate find out whether E.ON pay any credit balance by cheque or by direct credit to the dd account.

    Thanks for this.

What is the best website to switch through in terms of getting cashback etc?

I will provide a meter reading by 6th feb then.

Will I need to pay anything upfront for moving to OVO?

This is what the comparison website came up with:

Based on what you have told us we have calculated the following:
    Gas usage per year
    16500 kWhElec. usage per year
    3300 kWh
    Your current deal costs around
    £91.98per month

This deal will cost you around
    £86.21per month

    You save
    £5.77 per month
    £69.28 per year

Our current monthly DD with Eon has just been increased to £94 per month but this whilst on our old tariff.
You have not compared correctly. They are the average figures for the country. I don't know anyone who actually uses those exact amounts. You need to use the amounts that you actually use to do a valid comparison.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Well the savings and costs will only be accurate for actual consumption, however for "average" consumption the tariffs will be listed in approximately the correct order. Just as long as that is understood an "average use" comparison can be useful.

    Thanks for your help.

I spoke to Eon and was given my actual consumption for last year as:

    Electricity - 3881 kW/h
    Gas - 17220 kW/h

Putting this into the simplyswitch website (which can give me the highest cashback of £40 for dual fuel from reading on here), I would save £76.83.

Plus I may also be recommending someone in the next month or so and would get £40 credit on my bill with OVO if I do.

Just a further question - I have noticed there is an Eon Energyfit Plan, does anyone know much about this as I can't find unit prices on their website?

That being said, presumably that would be included on comparison sites so OVO still seems to be good.

What will happen in terms of final bills and initial payments to OVO if I switch?

    Thanks again.

Sorry for coming in late on this one Gaz.

As you have an online account with us, you can see a full list of available tariffs by using the ‘Switch Now’ button at the bottom of the ‘Your Account’ screen.

This will include SaveOnline 11 and our EnergyFit Plan with the full details of each.

I’m afraid it doesn’t do the sums for you though and putting your annual use into a comparison site is perhaps the best way find a replacement for SaveOnline 4.

    Two things to note are:

Because SaveOnline4 ran out on 15 January, your current plan should now be EnergyOnline. This offers a 10percent discount on our standard prices. Electricity prices are going down on 27 February and they should start showing on the comparison sites from tomorrow, so maybe have a look again then?

Also; as you’re already with E.ON you can’t always switch your plan through the comparison sites, so our products won’t appear on the list. There should be tick box though that says ‘compare whole of market’ or often it’s ‘show me only tarrifs I can switch to today’ (in which case you need to untick the box!) that way you know that you’re covering all bases.

If you do decide to switch; then it‘ll take about six weeks to complete the transfer. Your new supplier will take opening readings from you and then send them to us so that we can issue your Final Bill.

This will be online as normal but it won’t include any discounts as per our T’s and C’s.

Hope this helps a little, give me a shout if need any more info.

Energyfit Plan is an IMHO naff tariff where half the "deferred discount" is deferred for one year:eek: and the other half is deferred for two years:eek::eek:.

I had that feeling about it when I was reading up on it earlier.

Amanda has said that they are posting new elec prices tomorrow - is it likely to decrease though?
