Also, Facebook is a narrow site?Great to be a money saver!0

What like Facebook, mumsnet (its smaller than ours), netmums, Av forums (slightly wider).
Thank you Martin.
I use AVForums regularly but don't use the others.
However AVForums works fine as they don't have that extra bar on the right that MSE has. This means that MSE posts are squashed into a smaller space than AVForums posts.0 -

Well done MSE ?
Following YAHOO and GOOGLE you force a so called improvement on your users !
IMHO its pure crap and even the Old Style in options has changed and doesn't display correctly any-more. Well using CHROME it dosen't !
God my eyes hurt !   :mad:0 -
When I try to see who has thanked a post (clicking on the usual show me button), the page simply jumps to the top of the page, and the thanked bit does not expand. Windows 7, firefox 6.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Am I alone in finding the implied threat that "you're going to have to put up with fixed-width eventually" rather ominous?
Its not an implied threat. Its that we'll be optomising new features for the main fixed width version. We're not going to be getting rid of the stretchy.
For heavens sake folks, this is a free forum that you use, we work very hard on making it work. The agressive nature of some of the responses (not this one) are really a little unfair.0 -
well had just read the latest blog and thought good that people trust MSE, when I saw the forum and this thread thought that aint gonna last. Not techy enough to know what all of the width means, just that we dont like it even if those in MSE towers do
also why does the place need to be so bright there cant be any need for that surely, put the forum page at the end of heathrow airport and the planes will know where to land

As a side note I run a forum larger than MSE that is fixed width and we removed our side bar to give posts a full 1000px display and we've never had complaints
Wow - we're the 7th biggest social network in the UK, so what do you run - its only the likes of twitter and facebook that come ahead?
PS we are 1000 pixels full width, the next stage of the design is to look at the overall shape of the forum. This is just a masthead chanceMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
