“So, what are you doing tonight?”
Hello! I’m 26, female and live with my OH, 32. We both work full time, 5 out of 7 days. I’m Mon-Fri and for him its any five days, with usually a weekday and a Sunday off. At work I am constantly asked by colleagues, just in a chatty way “so what are you doing tonight?” and 99% of the time my answers seem to be “ummm… not a lot”. Then they reel off their plans – going to friends for tea, having people over, going to the pub, gym, its someone’s birthday yadda yadda, and I’m always left feeling as though I don’t do anything at all.
Am I the only one that when they come home from work, doesn’t often have the inclination/money to get out and do something every night? Just wondered how everyone else spends their evenings? Am I in the minority to be spending most evenings just cooking, eating tea, then plonked in front of the telly?
OH and I have a healthy sex life, especially now we’re trying for a baby, and I have a couple of friends that I see every few weeks, but that’s about it. My social life is hardly hard to keep track of. Am I normal?
Thanks

I think you are normal :-)
Perhaps it is middle age setting in, but if you have a demanding job then I don't see where the energy would come from to do a lot on week nights apart from cooking, housework and a bit of relaxing?0 -
Perfectly normal

A typical night for me and OH is having tea (or dinner dependant on where you are from in UK!), wash pots then chill out in front of a film/TV.0 -
You are totally normal!
I am 24 (though OH is older than me) and most evenings we just eat, watch TV, go to bed. OH works 12 hour days, my job is really tiring, and there is nothing we want to do more on a week night than cuddle up on the sofa.0 -
we dont do anything different to you..im usually in bed and asleep by 10 pm as hubby gets up at 5.30 am for workHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

We've been feeling this a bit - though our problem is more "what on earth shall we do!" My OH works from home and sometimes feels so bored, as I'm the only person he sees, but unless you want to go to spend a lot of money we can't ever think of anything to do, so often we end up just going and walking around the supermarket.
We're going to try a board game tonight though.Clicking, searching and surveying my way to a life of debt freedom!

totally normal, and i think people are only asking out of politeness so they can then say what exciting plans they've got when they do have them

in our office none of us really have busy social lives, so conversation regarding life outside work usually centres on planning tea, don't half make me hungry lol

People only ask what you're doing so they can then tell you what they're doing.0

I always feel like the very occasional times I AM doing something interesting or worthy of talking about, nobody asks me!
Me and hubby never do much during the week - one of us walks our dog for an hour when we get home and I cook dinner and we like to relax in front of the tv together. Need to get to bed fairly early as I have to get up at 5.30am and besides I don't like going out during the week because our dog's home alone all day while we're out at work and I don't think it's fair to !!!!!! off out for the evening too!
Next time someone asks what you're up to that evening, maybe you should say that you're going to try and make a baby....!0 -
I wish I could say something amazing, opera in the west end, concert, flying off on holiday. But No same as most, kids, dogs cats and I think tonight I have to help finish laying a new oak floor in the dining room. Oh the giddy heights of family life!Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0

Yup, definitely normal. I usually stay in during the week, maybe the odd meal out with friends or trip to the cinema, but generally I'm a little bit of housework when I get home then straight into my jammies! Then usually at the weekend I'll go out one night for a few drinks with my BF and / or friends, but sometimes just a meal.
I'm 29 and used to go out a lot more when I was younger, but started to calm down a lot a couple of years ago. I just prefer to chill now tbh!0
