MSE annoying feature

I've used this MSE website for some time now, but one thing really annoys me about it.
When using the Forums, if your cursor lingers over the title of a thread you get a box appearing giving details of that particular subject.
I do find this feature particularly annoying and have to keep my cursor parked at the edge of the page to stop it.
My question is ... is there any way I can turn this particular feature off?

"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock

Probably not, I'm sure someone who knows will be along shortly.
However, I have to say that I find it invaluable.
It means I can read the original posters comments without opening the thread up fully. If it grabs me or I wish to participate in that particular debate I can then open the thread. If I'm not interested it allows me to pass over that particular thread without opening it.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I think its a feature of vBulletin - the software used to create the forum - other sites that use it also have the same. Personally I like it and find myself wondering why on non vBulletin sites nothing comes up.
Still horses for courses - if we all liked the same things it would be boring!Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Personally I find this feature useful but if you press Ctrl the box should not display when your mouse hovers over.
It depends on your browser but in Firefox advanced setting about:config there is probably a parameter that can be changed to prevent this displaying - Go Google. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Was it particularly geeky of me to have a wry smile on my face as I read the OP in the preview box?I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
It's called a Tooltip. I'm sure it would be possible to write a custom stylesheet (in your browser) for use with MSE forum to disable it. No idea what/how at this juncture though.0 -
I'm with what appears to be the majority in finding the tooltip very helpful.
In fact, I'd like it to stay up for longer - I often find myself hovering over a thread and then having to switch to another then return to get the tooltip back again after it has "timed out".if you press Ctrl the box should not display when your mouse hovers over.0 -
Oh, don't get this on a mobile. Not mine anyway.

Does this work (assuming you have Firefox)?

td_threadtitle
All the links with such popups start with the above as the id="" part. Some user javascript or CSS would be needed to disable popups (titles) on any link whose id starts with td_threadtitle.0
