Morning FTM glad all is on the way to being organised for your DDs wedding, in laws are tricksy and I'm glad our prospectives were so pleasant, that first meeting was something I'd been dreading but they live quite a way from us and DD so we'll not come in contact too often for both our comforts'. Glad your lovely DS has an award from the college, well done him. Lovely day here, sunny warm and blue skies so washing out, DH out and dog flat out on the lawn. Have a good one, Cheers Lyn xxx.

FTM  at the cost! Not what you need at all. Well done to DS on the award though - 3 years without a day's absence is a real achievement if my previous work colleagues are anything to go by ;)

What a lovely day - have managed to get 4 loads dried on the line (last one was jeans so not completely dried but they are hanging up in spare room to finish off) so whole house smells of clean washing.

Finally got the cheque from the insurance company re my cat's treatment at Easter - the first cheque went missing, I cancelled it, it got delivered but too late and replacement cheque took about 3 weeks to arrive. That was paid in today as I have already paid the credit card bill for the vets.

Good news today - my dad has been incubating some duck eggs for us and they have hatched - 8 out of 12 so far with 2 more possibles. Will post piccies when I get them.

Was at the swimming pool at 7.45 this morning :D and playing badminton tomorrow with OH so that's an 8.30 start. This exercise thing is tiring

I'm thinking of being a real spend-thrift and treating myself to a new washing line. Was trying to hang out (no pun intended) until I got a job but it's a case of when it breaks not if and I can replace it now and shop around for the best deal rather than have to replace it in a hurry and probably pay more. I lead such a rock n roll life!

Ducks have spent a very happy day foraging in the front garden, hopefully eating all the snails so my lettuces can be safe :)

Oh and OH phoned the wildlife rescue place and the moorhen is doing well, eating lots and recovering from its ordeal!

    Hi..
MLW..yes thankfully the in-laws to be live quite far away..so will only have to see them at family do's..don't get me wrong they were nice but so full of misery and doom and gloom...my dd was nervous because of our sense of humour and was relieved i think we didn't crack any jokes and behaved appropriately...
Thank for the congrats for sam..he was pleased he got it..he even went to college when he was poorly..they sent him home thankfully. Its nice to know that he is appreciated by someone other than family.

Katie..yes the cost is horrendous but ultimately worth it for him to have some relief from it...thanks for the congrats for sam.
I love the smell of line dried washing its so refreshing and clean.
Wow little baby ducks the girls will squeal when i tell them.
Haha rock and roll life..i get excited when i buy new tea towels..and i am so glad the moorhen is ok...

We have been to the charity shop today..the girls had a £1 each to spend..Fern bought 7 more books and so did Iris much to my surprise..she said in a loud voice.."mummy i have too many toys and clothes but not enough books"..was shocked at that really as my house could rival a library for books..so she got her 7 in a bag and is sitting in the garden reading?..looking at pictures..
I got 2 lovely pale yellow pillowcases for 50p,2 books for £1..and 2 lovely big picture frames for 50p each..o and a couple of pull bows..you pull the string and it all gathers up in to a big pooffy bow..30p each..i have seen them for sale in other shops for £3 each..so thats my little haul today..
I am having a relaxing afternoon..its has been full on and manic this week..so i am taking the afternoon to recharge my batteries...
    love to you all

I'm very sad, have bought my new washing line and I love it! It's 60m so about twice the size of the old one and really sturdy - best of all it stands up straight! Had to do a load of washing just so I could try it out!!

Went to the garden centre at the weekend and they had the last bags of seed potatoes for 50p each so bought 4, need to get them in the ground ASAP but if they don't come to much I haven't lost anything at that price.
  • Oh KATE aren't they adorable?? I love the other photos, thank you so much for sharing them, this has definately been the biggest pleasure of the day!!! Brilliant, Lyn xxx.

I meant to say; we have a huge tree in our back garden which was there when we moved in 5 years ago. OH said a couple of times he though it was a cherry tree but there has never been any fruit on it.

When we were looking at it at the weekend, there are loads of fruits setting all over it so we checked and it seems it may be a wild cherry tree which are apparently not self-fertile.

Last year our next door neighbours and we each got a cherry tree both of which have flowered for the first time this year so they may have cross-pollinated this other tree. If it is a cherry tree we will hopefully have a lot of cherries this year (provided the birds don't eat them all!)
  • I believe that Duck with Cherries is a very delectable combination???????
