FTM - that's really rubbish. You've had such a miserable time recently I really hoped you would have a smooth Christmas. Hugs to everyone and I hope they are better soon.
I've just taken the tree and decorations down as we are heading off to the US for a few weeks so it looks remarkably bare. I'm having a mad baking session though so I can leave lots of goodies with my parents. They quite often have a steady stream of visitors over the festive season so I'm sure some home baking will come in handy.
I may be back later once I've finished baking/tidying and packing. Have a warm, cosy day everyone and do as little as possible.0 -
Hello all, FTM so sorry the grandchildren were poorly over christmas what a dissapointment for you and the girls, hope they are all on the way to being better now and that your two didn't come down with anything either. Huge congratulations to your eldest daughter on her engagement, there must be something in the air these days, yes? It's like no29 busses, you wait for ages and then two come along at the same time, it's sooooo lovely though, awwwwwww!!!!!! Happy new year to you all and much love from us down here.
SM hope you had a lovely christmas and that you both have a super time on your trip to the US. I hope you are going somewhere that the snow hasn't disrupted and can be warm while you're there - Happy New Year to you both, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Got a bargain in Robert Dy@s today - they had bird feeding stations reduced from £20 to £8 so I got one as it has a dish for water, we couldn't work out how to put water out for the birds.
I wonder if it may be squirrel-proof as well which is important round here as our fat-balls keep going missing (including the net!)
Congratulations to Mrs LW and FTM on DD's engagements, what a lovely present.0 -
Hi all..well everyone is recovered enough to celebrate now..popped open the champers for Andrea and her fella...no plans to get married just yet..she said its just nice to be engaged .
Me and MR FTM sat down last night and planned for next year..lots of ideas..more growing and more make do and mend..we are definitely up for more self sufficiency and learning new skills .He is going to have some time off in January to get polytunnel and greenhouses up and running plus any decorating that needs doing so its done..i have lots of de-cluttering to do and toys and clothes to go to charity shops..
I have drawn up a small list of things i would like to teach the girls...sewing by hand and machine..knitting and maybe a little embroidery too...also to help me with household jobs..sorting laundry and folding clothes..a little responsibility would do them good i think..also i would like them to have a say in what we grow and eat too..rather than just following on behind me..i want them to have ideas and opinions of their own..once a week we will sit down and discuss what we have done and what we would like to do.
So thats the plan and i hope to stick to it..
going to have a cuppa and help Fern with a puzzle ball...
love to you

FTM - You could give the whole world a lesson in how to be the best mum and bring up wonderful all rounders with life skills for every situation. You are a rare thing in this day and age, you have vision and relevant skills to teach your oh so lucky littlies all they need to know for a viable and successful future, you are a heck of a good lass!!!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again - this world is a better place for having you in it!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Just popping in briefly from across the pond in case I don't get back on tomorrow. Have a happy New Year everyone, raise a glass to all our successes in 2012 and here's to many more in 2013. You have all been an inspiration to me over the last year and I truly feel I have a wonderful non judgemental support network.
Here's to all of us:beer:
p.s. fingers crossed the weather is being kind. It's currently 60 degrees with me and the locals are wearing thermals!0 -
