  • Hello FTM It sounds as if Iris had an amazing party, it's always much better fun for them if they get involved in making things and home made is ALWAYS best. Well done all of you, and happy birthday to Iris.

You sound a busy lady with all your cooking and freezing, and yet again I have Bunny Envy - although DD1 has a little traditional butchers shop very close to the new house and he was advertising Rabbit and Mutton when I was up last. I am going again next week so I shall investigate further and hopefully make Bunny Pie Mmmmmm Yum!!!

Tha alphabet sounds lovely and so did the printed tiaras, very resourceful you!

Stoptober going well here too, and the contents of the freezer are slowly being used up. I really need to defrost it and it's been chocca full for the past year, I'm discovering things I don't remember buying, but am glad to have. I hit a rich seam of various bits of game, some pheasant breasts, pigeon breasts and packs of rabbit meat so I will make us a nice game pie during the week, nice hot and nice cold.

Hope the Home Ed is going well, have you had your latest visit from the Local Ed people yet? hope it was all good if you have, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • I think I need to join you all on Stoptober - I added yet more to the freezer today - 5 lots of french onion soup and only one out - macaroni cheese for tomorrow night.

We will have a week of freezer meals. We simply must to get things used up and no adding anything else in the meantime.

I made 2 chocolate sponges and a cheesecake today - cheesecake went to my parents for tea and I left the remainder there, one chocolate sponge has gone to my elderly neighbours as a treat and the other will go to the office tomorrow. There has been much grumbling since I came back from holiday about the lack of variety in the team biscuit tin!

No sign of the ice cream maker yet - very frustrating and I poured over the Lakeland book last night with a G&T. I made a wish list- sometime this week I will go through it with a red pen and work out what I really need:o

I now have the rope for my new washing line which hubby put up yesterday morning. Unfortunately it rained ever since so no washing to christen it this weekend:(

FTM - the party sounds fab. It was definitely a success when the guest of honour fell asleep in dress, sounds like my kind of bash. I'm envious of the tiara, I was given one in a secret Santa a few years back - not sure what that says about me.......

Anyway, hubby caught his tartan quilted jacket on a corrugated tin sheet this afternoon and tore it a little so I'm off to fix it before the little hole becomes a big one.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

Hi ladies. Gosh the weather is terrible here. Raining cats and dogs.
I had my handbag stolen in the early hours of yesterday morning with my purse, phone and house/car keys in it. Nightmare. Now need to change the locks and have had to cancel everything so have no money either :(. I'm so upset.
It takes so long to sort everything out when something like this happens doesn't it? Hopefully the police will be able to track it from the CCTV as it appears that my phone has been taken out of the town centre. O2 were able to tell me the last mast it used for a signal so fingers crossed I get somewhere. The weather is awful though so if my phone's been dumped, it will be ruined anyway :(.
Made my mind up though and I'm just not going out in town any more, I hate it. It's too loud and too dark in these clubs and pubs which leaves it very easy to thieve from people. I've said for a long time that they need to turn the music down and the lights up and it will reduce the crime rate. DH says I'm an old whatsit! He's been very calm about all of this and very helpful bless him.

  • Oh KAZ - poor you, what an absolutely horrible thing to have happened and so disruptive, have a virtual hug! It really shakes you up when things like that happen, the only good thing is that you were not hurt when it happened. If only life was less fraught. Keep your pecker up, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • Kaz- How awful, what a pain to have to go through that.

    Hi all...

Kaz.hope its all sorted now..what goes around comes around..scumbags some folks are..

MLW..i have had my visit this morning from the cfbt..it went great..the lady was lovely..gave me some great tips for Fern and Iris..said she will see me next year for a progress report..phew so relieved. She sat with Fern for a while and had a little chat..asking Fern if she would like to go back to school ..Fern's reply"No thank you"..when asked why not Fern replied"my mum listens to me and helps me "..o i had tears in my eyes..
This week we took down our old greenhouse and skipped it..and then had to have another skip for the rubbish behind it and in it..but i had put the money away last month so stoptober is still going...the garden shed looks a bit random now all on its own..so hubby and son are moving it tomorrow to bottom of garden..we have removed fences and trellis and wowsers our garden all of a sudden looks gigantic..it was big before but now its massive..the girls are loving it..they have been running all over and playing ..
I have been redoing some picture frames..a nice duck egg blue and some lovely new printables in them..gorgeous..we have made felt flowers and sewn buttons into the centres..put some ribbon through the top and hung them from the stair rail all the way up the stairs..definitely a girlie house..
Right hubby has just made a lovely coffee..
hope your all ok and keeping the pennies hostage..
    love

  • Hi FTM - Congrats on the super response from the LEA lady, you must be doing really, really well for them to leave it a year before the next visit,so well done all of you. Bless little Fern, what a proud mum you must be for her to say that you listen, I'd have had tears too..... Good on you!!!

Polytunnel is still producing although everything has slowed right down. The second sowing of climbing french beans is producing now and I am getting a small helping each about twice a week so we have decided that next year we will take out the spring sown ones much earlier on and get the winter ones in earlier for a better crop. The lettuces and salad leaves are going great guns, the beetroot is standing well and the peppers are ripening, all in all we're pleased with it.

I've aquired a dehydrator recently (its actually my christmas present from DH and both girls) but they said to use it now and it's super. Did some really ripe banana slices in it the other day and they are better than sweeties, it will help no end to save all the crop. particularly in the glut season.

Your craft flowers sound lovely, they must be so pretty on the stair rail, I'll bet the girls love them, what a good Mum you are. Hope you enjoyed your coffee, Have a good Halloween when it comes round, Cheers Lyn xxx. p.s Stoptober still going strong!!

  • You'll have your own tunnel up and running next year and then we can compare notes FTM, I must admit though I absolutely love the poly, almost as much as I love the woodstove, which we have just lit for the first time this season tonight. It's blissfully warm and cosy in the lounge now and the dog is lying full stretch in front of it with a big doggy grin on his face, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • Big news - the ice cream maker attachment came today. Bad news I won't have time to make any until:

A - the weekend at the earliest as I am busy
B - the point when I clear enough room in the freezer to get the bowl in to freeze:o

At least I will have time to do what I do best - plan........
