Hi everyone, just popping in to pass on this recipe to scottishminnie
I posted it a while ago, but thought I'd post the link to it for you

It is glorious pulled pork, it does make a lot, but it freezes very well. I recommend it as a pizza topping. Hope that helps x0 -
Hello SDG nice to see you over here, come and join in once in a while, that would be very nice, Cheers Lyn x.0

Thanks very much SDG. I was really reluctant to buy a slow cooker (even though Lakeland had a really nice one for £20) as I think it may become another resident in the gadget graveyard.
I have a big Le Crueset dish which can go in the oven or on the hob so hopefully it should be big enough. I may very well try it out this weekend as hubby is driving me mad about having some pulled pork.
Thanks also for the pizza topping idea - that isn't something I would have though of!0 -
Meant to say earlier - since pumpkins are a little pricey I decided to buy some longer lasting ones. I found these on a well known auction site and they arrived today. I opted for the non patterned ones - they are not huge but beautiful and look great on my hall table as you enter the house.
I'm delighted with them and rather taken with the set of 3 Christmas puddings the seller has. I may be a return customer!0 -
SM - they are absolutely beautiful and will give you years of enjoyment, well found, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Evening all.
It's been another hectic weekend in my neck of the woods. Lots of catching up to do after the holiday so I now have 8 portions of baked potato soup, one cooked and sliced meatloaf and a ham joint sliced - all in the freezer.
I also have a humongous amount of pulled pork waiting to be bagged for the freezer - thanks SDG - that seems like a foolproof recipe so I'm very grateful.
I'm pretty certain the inside freezer is now full so I will cease production and start to use things for the next few weeks.
I managed to spend some time in the garden today as the weather was nice so my grass at least looks tidy. Unfortunately when I harvested my beetroot and onions I got nothing worthwhile -they are utterly minute, a complete waste of time and effort. I'm having mixed thoughts about next years planting - I will, of course plant up the new raised beds but that may well be as far as I go. from 50 tomato plants I didn't get a single tomato as it was so wet and cold. The 10 plants which I gave to my mother for the greenhouse have been ok but very late due to the lack of sunshine. I have to say I'm completely disheartened tonight - maybe I will feel better come spring time although I'm determined not to waste lots of money on seeds which are wasted due to the atrocious climate here.
No baking this weekend so I must get round to that this week and the breadmaker hasn't been out the cupboard for about 6 weeks so time for action.
I did treat myself though - ordered an ice cream maker attachment for my kitchenaid - was a splurge but a suggestion from hubby so I'm looking forward to that arriving.
Have a good week all.0 -
SM - Don't be disheartened by the garden not giving produce this year, we've only had a fraction of what we normally produce down here in not only the soft south, but a nice little microclimate thanks to the Isle of Wight. We've only managed what we have because of the polytunnel and because we're retired, most people I know here are saying the same as you. Try again next year, who knows the weathr gods might be kind to us and give us a superb growing year!
I'm truly sorry about the tomato babies though as that's the one thing we've been successful with above all others. I used my new dehydrator yesterday and did 2 trays of cherry tomatoes to semi dried state and now have them in olive oil in jars in the fridge and will use them as sundried for things like pizza.
Enjoy your new ice cream maker and utilize it to the full!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Well, no sign of the ice cream attachment yet and I'm getting impatient. I have no idea what I'm going to make however I'm impatient nonetheless! I think I will pick up some vanilla pods tomorrow when I visit Mr A and make some vanilla sugar just in case I need it.
It's been a busy week at work so I now have a mountain of washing and other household duties to attend to. I suspect I will need to use the tumble dryer so I've loaded up the washer now and that should get things moving a bit.
MrsLW - I'm hoping my potato harvest will be less dismal. We did pick some before we went on holiday and they were good, if small. Looking forward to the rest of the crop. It wont make up for the loss of the rest of my vegetables however it would at least be something.
Hope everyone is having a good week so far.0 -

Helloall..hope your all well...
Iris's party was brilliant..she enjoyed herself that much she fell asleep with her Rapunzel outfit on(big sister got that for her)..we had so much fun making all the decorations for the day..paper tissue is amazing..paper flowers and lovely scrunched up big flowers hanging from the ceiling..all the girls including the big ones dressed up in princess'y type dresses..and of course daddy was Prince Charming..i printed some Tiara's for everyone too..it was such a lovely day..
I have been busy all week..making soups and stews for my freezer..i got given 3 huge bags of apples..so pies, crumbles, sauces and apple sponges have been made and frozen..my other neighbour gave me a whole rabbit..complete with skin and guts..lol..hubby has skinned it and jointed it and thats frozen now.
I printed off some vintage style Alphabet cards..they are just too cute to put in a box so i have removed a huge painting from my dining room and hung the Alphabet on strings with little silver pegs holding them in place..it looks really good and Iris can see it and we all read it together at mealtimes..
I am still doing "stoptober"..did waiver a little and bought the tissue paper but lots cheaper and more fun then just buying ready made ones..have done a complete food inventory..think i have enough to feed a very small army for a month or 3...only had to buy milk, banana's,some yoghurts and gravy..strange shopping list but thats really all i needed..hopefully my bank balance will be looking good at the end of the month..
right go to go and give Iris some medicine..got a small cold the poor poppet..
love to you all
ftmBe who you are, not what the world expects you to be..:smileyhea
