My thoughts on the Nant Ddu Lodge...lovely hotel,great food but quite a distance from Merthyr Train Station.

Thankyou everyone for your replies, I've been offline for a little while so had missed some of the replies-but thankyou.

Chippy, I tried all of the places you suggested, but they were all fully booked!! I finally managed to find a place in Barry-The Aberthaw House Hotel...know anything about it??! Of course I find out after I book that the bar is closed the weekend my lot will be staying (not that they want to get whacked, but they do enjoy a drink before bed!!), but it has to do because there is nowhere else left! Or if there is i can't bloody-well find it!

There's a couple of Travel Inn's just outside Cardiff. There's one on Newport Road, one on Keen Road, one in Wenvoe and one in Roath. All within easy access to town. Try premiertravelinn.com

Would try your hardest to stay in Cardiff, as its a fantastic city with a great atmosphere for being around the stadium. Lots of pubs, restaurants and fast food etc. If not try Newport/Bristol/Cheltenham and get the train to Cardiff. When you get out of the station you fall over the stadium literally.
