I wonder if anyone can help, I'm trying to book accomodation in Cardiff (or roundabouts) for the Speedway GP in June (29/06/07 - 01/07/07) I need either 2 x twin rooms or 4 single and everywhere I try its fully booked
Does anybody know of anywhere I could try? It doesnt have to be in the city centre itself as long as there is access by train or bus (or not too expensive by taxi).
Any help would be hugely appreciated

You could look for a hotel in Newport, the train only takes about 15 minutes into Cardiff and the stadium is a 5 minute walk0

Hi mrskaz,
I live about 20 minutes from Cardiff (on a good day) so i'll try and help!! What sort of accommodation are you looking for.....B&B or 5*? There are a few hotels at the motorway junctions, dont know if youve tried them.
Try https://www.quality-hotels-cardiff.com or https://www.village-hotels.co.uk
These are both a taxi or bus ride away.
If you dont mind travelling into Cardiff by train you could try Newport as previously suggested (thats the English side of Cardiff) or Bridgend (thats West of Cardiff and where I live ) I dont know much about hotels in Newport but could help with Bridgend. Let me know if you want some suggestions.0 -
When we go to stadium usually stay in Angel Hotel right opposite.
It is a great place, good food nice rooms and parking at back, obviously it might cost but well worth it try their website get in early you never know.

Thanks Chippy-Bridgend sounds fine-as long as theres travel into cardiff, then its no problem! I'm not bothered how many stars and it can be either a b&b or hotel..the only thing that would be nice would be if it has a bar (its not for me btw!) its for my husband, dad, godfather, and mate, they are going to watch the speedway-I'm just the one that has to organise everything! A bar isnt essential, it would just be nice, I get the feeling they'll be lucky to find anything this late!
Thanks,

Hi again,
Here are some hotels in Bridgend,
The Heronston Hotel at https://www.bestwestern.co.uk - nice hotel on the outskirts of town.
The Wyndham Hotel at https://www.jdwetherspoonlodges.co.uk/wyndham_arms- this is right in the town but it is a wetherspoon pub so could be noisy at weekends.
Both are within walking distance of the train station(Wyndam is nearest) and the trains run approx 3 times per hour, cost about £4.50 return and take about 20 minutes. Its about 20 miles by road.
There is also the Maerdy Hotel,Coychurch Road, Pencoed, Bridgend, CF35 5NA
Telephone: 01656 860654 ,Fax: 01656 864732
Different train station...trains not quite so frequent but slightly nearer Cardiff.
Did you try the other links I gave? There are so many hotels in Cardiff I'm suprised you cant find a vacancy.
There are also lots of other places around Cardiff but may not be on the train line. Hope this helps...let us know0 -
Thanks Chippy, I'll check these out straight away. You would not believe how many hotels I've already tried-I've lost count because I've tried so many!! Yep, I'd already tried the village hotel and I 'think' i've tried the quality (tried that bloody many its hard to remember!), if I get no joy I'll double check with that one.
Thanks again-you've been a star:beer:

Quick update Chippy! No room at the inn for The Heronston, I've sent off an enquiry to the whetherspoons one, so I'll probably hear from them tomorrow.
Cheers

When there are events likely to attract a near capacity crowd to the Millennium Stadium accommodation sells out for miles around. If I were you, consider widening your search to include Swansea and Bristol - friends of mine tried for accommodation before a Rugby League final a few years ago, the nearest they could find was in Taunton (70 m iles away).
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but as you have found out, these things sell very quickly (usually start booking for next year as soon as the current one is done)Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0
