I have this plum tree patio type got it in a set of 4 fruits all others have buds and look reasonably healthy however this plum looks dead and pretty much is it only has 1 bud a
Any ideas on going about making it survive ? Should I cut back to good? Leave it alone ? Feed it ?? Help!!
I have got those 4 trees they were delivered 2 weeks ago and been in pots about 5 days now. The only one that shows signs on life is the Stella Cherry looks like the buds are ready to open but the rest is still dormant. I am no expert but I would think they wake up in their own good time or contact the place you got them.
My landscaping is finished and I now have a bed 1.8m by 8.5m dug down to 1 ft and filled with lovely soil. Bottom is a bit gritty (got clay soil so hope to mix it in gradually and help drainage) and top is lovely organic stuff. Cannot wait to get planting but may need help with planning it so I don't stick too much in.
My Marigolds have come up so has my sugar snaps, 1 French bean and some of the peas. Also got lettuce and some bushy sunflowers. Going to be strange to have decent soil to grown in this year.

Wey hey the chilli seeds have germinated, I put a load of tomato, aubergine, herbs, peppers and chilli seeds in at the same time and everything had come through about a week ago apart from the chilli and pepper seeds. I was starting to think I was going to have to start over but now I can concentrate on something else.
Everyday I've been peering at them willing them to appear and just as I'd given up hope ... :j
My impatience might have killed mine off.
I've had cucumber/leek/pepper/sweet pepper/geranium seeds in heated propagators for what seems like ages and out of all that, only 1 cucumber seed and 1 geranium seed have sprouted.
I got fed up waiting this morning so had a poke about in the trays not expecting to see anything (I thought maybe the other seeds had rotted)....and lo & behold I found seeds that were beginning to sprout after all. I covered them up again and am now hoping for the best.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I have less space than most pics on here.
I have planted lettuce, first batch of tomatoes, cucumbers, beetroot (in pots - last year I planted them staright out, & though a few grew, most were eaten), & a fair few peas (last year they didn't work, & peas are my favourite, so wanted a proper go at them this year).
I've also planted pepper seeds, as last year everything I planted was too late. From reading earlier posts, would I be better having these indoors at the moment? They're currently outside in a pvc greenhouse.
I will be planting some carrots & onions too in a week or so (as soon as I have more compost!)
I have a freezer with loads of beans in, & also an abundance of sprouts. I've grown brocolli before. I'm wondering if there is something else I could have a go at growing? All suggestions welcome! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Yes mate, heated propagator for those. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Last year i tried boiling water and salt.. certainly got rid of them for a long while over summer.. however i've since moved house so I have no idea if it's still taking effect.. It kills the roots (by scalding and dehydration:eek:) rather than just torching their heads off..
Can anyone verify the tip i've just seen on Superscrimpers - they immersed rhubarb leaves in water to make a yakky bug spray, does this really work??Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

Apparently so.
I've got a bag of road salt I could use on the weeds. Just testing the torch method first - had a look today and a few don't look like I did anything at all.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Started landscaping the small back garden on Monday. Filled a skip, taken grass off down to the soil. Lifted raised beds that were waterlogged(long story). Lifted the path. Levelled lawn and relaid path. I am now in need of help (and a new back). Planning the borders and it's north facing. Plants only at this side. What cottage garden style plants grow north facing. Have googled but prefer peoples successes.
