It's because it's chuffing cold out there. Chuffing cold. Chuffing damp. Chuffing windy.

I suspect your cucumber has been chomped, either on the stem, or the roots.

Sunny morning today so got my front garden bit redug over and pulled out nearly half a green bin of couch grass and dandelions and filled it with bedding plants.
Nothing much happening on the veg front, everything seems to have stopped growing.:(
Several small green strawbs, a few flowers on the tatties (they have at least recovered from their flattening last week) and rasbs now and loads on the toms but thats about it. Half my beans never appeared and several more have been munched, as have loads of bedding plants.
The only things growing well are the weeds.

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately I guess I can't do anything about the wind/rain/cold/general lack of sunshine, and if the stem or roots have been chomped, can't much help that either.

Will leave it in and see if it perks up, though with rain forecast for the next two days, I don't hold out much hope for the droopy one.

Just caught up on everyon's tribulations - doesn't make for cheering reading! Perhaps we should have all chosen a less wether-dependent hobby? :( hugs to all who need them!

Nothing that I have outside is doing anything exciting, except my mixed lettuce looks ready to harvest :j it's just one wee pot ATM though, so not sure I'll have enough for a full salad.:rotfl:

In VERY exciting news, my two indoor chilli plants have their first flowers :D dead chuffed. Do I need to pollinate these with a paintbrush because the plants are indoors??

The bindweed is growing well ...

2 camellias dead, one Rocoto chilli stripped of more than half its leaves (large plant), other chillis looking battered, courgettes recovering, curry plant dead, orange mint and pepper attacked by aphids (probably present when bought from the garden centres). I'd be better off digging a pond and planting aquatic plants.

I used to use my pinky to give them a little thrill, but apparently shaking the branches is enough, seems to work!

  • Hi everyone, just popped on this thread by chance and is very interesting reading.

I am glad it is not only me who is disappointed with the veg patch and the greenhouse(unheated) this yr. Everything is so dismal, nothing seems to be growing except the weeds. My 2 courgette plants look as though they maybe holding their own for now, if we get the soaking that is due on Fri/Sat/Sun it may finish them off!

My sweetpeas look as though most of them have given up the ghost but some are hanging on for grim death. Strawberries that are green look like they maybe going brown so looks like they are no good. In an earlier post someone said that they will keep the runners for next yr. Do I have to get rid of the old plants then? Raspberries have just about started to flower and my apple trees look to have about 2 apples between the 3 of them.

Keeping everything crossed that it warms up soon and not all mine and everyones hard work is in vain. ;)

Chillis are self pollinating and don't need any shaking or exchanging of pollen.
