What can I do with jars of Cranberry Sauce?

Options
I have 9 jars of Cranberry Sauce in my cupboard. Bearing in mind I will usually only serve this with turkey, or make a brie and cranberry sandwich, ( neither of which will make much inroads into it ) what can I do with these?

The reason I have so much is that it was an excellent Mr T's Double The Difference last year so we were paid to take it away :D but I can't bring myself to chuck it out

Any suggestions/recipes welcome! :)

  • Hi, I sometimes use things like cranberry, red currant, or chutneys in casseroles when I am using tinned tomatoes. They add a lovely sweetness and depth and you don't feel that you're leaving them unused.

    Hope that helps, Tilly

I saw a recipe for cranberry brownies at christmas on the love food hate waste website. I didn't try it but it did look nice.

Well I've got a half opened jar that i only use up very slowly, tasting it the other day, it's really sweet.

I would stick it at the bottom of a bowl, pour sponge mixture on top, bake then slather it in custard and serve as pudding .............. if I wasn't on a diet!

Or mix it half and half with jam and do the same!

Also, what's the date on it? Will it last til next Christmas?

You could use it for the topping for a cheesecake?
I smile because I have no idea what is going on :o

not going to list them all and pass them off as my ideas, obviously cut down the list as you want, eg main course

one i did have, could you not use it as a glaze for sausages? somehow? or a glaze for a ham
Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.
  • My friend's son spreads leftover cranberry sauce on bread instead of using jam.
  • Ooh thank you, good ideas! :)

2 jars cranberry sauce mixed with a heaped tablespoon of wholegrain mustard, warmed in a saucepan to mix it well, then spread on a leg of lamb which you then slow cook for 6-8 hours in a slow-cooker. Thicken the resulting gravy with a little cornflour while your lamb is resting on the carving dish!
    Delicious!
