    Welcome Bizzyizzy and MRN!

Mmmm cream of parsnip soup - recipe please???

Got home about 7pm, and started out at about 7.15 this morning, so am now quite shattered! And it is only Tuesday

Still, Wednesday tomorrow, and then downhill all the way till the weekend (as you can tell, I really love my job :p)

Wall to wall meetings tomorrow :(

Better get off to bed in a minute!
  • A recipie? It's umm...
Peeled, roughly chopped parsnips, one sauted onion, home made chicken stock and black pepper (sometimes I add a little cumin). Boil up till parsnips really soft. Blend. Add any left over mascapone or cream cheese or cream or milk and stir through.
I probably gave it a way too fancy name for a leftovers soup!

I had an even longer working day than yours yesterday - I left home at 06:50 and got back at 21:30 after a full working day plus 5 mystery shops/audits in the evening. I just kept telling myself to think of the money!

Thank you MRN. That sounds gorgeous and I shall make some this weekend! Judging by the number of 'thanks' your post received, it looks as though I may not be alone :D

I must confess I am a bit fed up of the veg and bean soup I made last weekend - I have the last of it to finish today. So something different will be good. I like the idea of adding some cumin (plus I have loads of it :rotfl:)

    Friday today :j

    V. foggy outside, not looking forward to the drive to the station
Received expenses from work, so will pay that off the mortgage tonight. Only £17.20, but I shall round up to £20, and it all helps :)

This may well be my only overpayment this month as I have the water bill to pay  I am wondering whether to pay it monthly by DD given reduction in income (I paid it in one lump last year). Also wondering whether a meter would be a cheaper option...

    Hmm some pondering to do...

Better get on now, as I am still sitting here in my dressing gown
  • It was really foggy driving to work this morning... didn't stop the idots driving like idiots though!

We pay water bills by DD, haven't had any nastly stings at the end of the year either. They seem to be a little bit fairer when they work out the monthly amount compared to energy suppliers who like to overestimate so that the ball is always in their court and you need to ask to have your ball back please. But then I suppose the usage is more constant throughout the year.

Got home to a cheque from Zapper for books I sent them a couple of weeks ago :T

And another one for some things from our old house that we sold at auction - so a bit more for the mortgage fund :T

Paid £20 off the mortgage this evening (work expenses payment rounded up :))

Thanks of the tip about the water DD, MRN. I might just do that.

    Today:
Paid off an additional £5 (Halifax reward)

Small shop at Mr S - OH got most things yesterday. No need to buy much as I am using-up :D

Retrieved a large piece of venison from the big chest freezer, in my seemingly never-ending quest to empty it, and made half into vension sausages (messy long winded job sausage making - at least it is when OH and I do it :rotfl:, but they look fabulous and professional sitting in the fridge.:)

Made the other half into a giant casserole with lots of veg which is bubbling away in the SC as we speak. That will do for supper for about 3 days, so will need to put some back in the freezer beast when done (the small indoor one, which going forward will be our only one, is full :o).

Had tuna for supper, with new potatoes, broccoli and a few little leeks from the garden - they didn't get very big as they were put in so late, but might as well eat them. Cooked the tuna in butter and squeezed half a lemon over at the last minute, to make a lovely lemony sauce to pour over.

Just found a recipe for cranberry flapjacks so might have to make those in a minute :D

Sausage making is a slow messy business! I've helped make salami in Italy, so know what you mean!

Cranberry and almond flapjacks in oven - didn't get round to it last night - collapsed in a heap instead. I am really shattered at the moment, probably because work is such a nightmare :(

Will make a plum cake as well in a minute (baking is quite therapeutic, I find, and this will use up a few freezer plums :))

Divided huge casserole up and froze half, half in fridge for dinner tomorrow (and Tuesday as well, probably).

DD and her OH are coming for dinner tonight :) apparently looking forward to toad in the hole made with HM venison sausages - and plum cake for pud!

Bad news that 2 banks are raising their mortgage rates
Does this mean that others are likely to follow I wonder?

It looks like being a rubbish week at work again this week

Except tomorrow when I have to take a day's leave for a(nother) family funeral :(

    Oh well, onward and upward....

    Today:
Do packed lunch for work (must get on in a minute)
Pay in cheques from selling junk, old books etc at lunch time :)
Print out details of ferry for holiday in April :)
Find a book that has sold on Amazon - hopefully I still have it and it didn't go to Zapper!
Some of the casserole I made at the weekend for supper.

    Better dash

Well, the funeral was upsetting, as it was my cousin (to whom I am close) who had lost her Mum. In many ways it was a merciful release, as she (my aunt) had suffered from dementia for a number of years. Having been such a strong, inspirational woman, it was very sad to see her deteriorate - and it was the third family funeral since just before Christmas, so everyone is feeling a bit drained :(

Hopefully the last one for a while!

Very early start today as I had to be in town for 9.00 am for a course so had to get the 5.55 train  Still, on the positive side, there was very little traffic at that time for the drive to the station ;) though I did narrowly miss a tractor with a big spiky fork thingy with very feeble lights, on a narrow bridge in the dark

The course was interesting :) (and there was a nice lunch :D)

Posted Amazon book (which I eventually found :)) on the way back to the tube station

Paid in cheques the other day - I decided to pay £50 of this off the mortgage, and the other £100 towards the ferry for our holiday in France next month :)

Friday again tomorrow - the week hasn't been as bad as I had feared - I even have a couple of things sorted :D - though there is still at least one potential nightmare on the horizon

Off to lock up and then bath and bed - getting up at 4.30 has caught up with me :o
