Not such a good day today - it was my cousin's funeral
I was ok till her little granddaughters stood up to say the bits they had rehearsed and one broke down in tears
:( So did almost everyone else.
It was a sad occasion, but I did catch up with some other family members whom I hardly ever see, which was nice. Pity we couldn't meet up more often under happier circumstances though.
I offered the old fridge freezer on freecycle, and have now promised it to a very excited lady who asked me to send her photos of it :rotfl:I am not the world's best photographer at the best of times, but I defy even David Bailey to make a masterpiece of an old fridge freezer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hopefully she will pick it up tomorrow so I can put the conservatory back together - does anyone know if there is a less posh word for a glass bit built onto the back of your house where the wellies and dog's food bowls live? 'Conservatory' sounds like palm trees, orchids and smart rattan furniture to sit on (and time to sit on it!).
The chest freezer is still about half full, and it will be a while before we eat our way through that lot. DD2 wants it once it is emptybut she will have to wait a while

Or, if Billy's reading, midden.

"Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"0 -
Lol to the fridge freezer pic GG. I don't think I could live with that one though :rotfl:
Got up early (for a Saturday, at the usual time for a work daythough) as I was wide awake. I couldn't get off to sleep for ages last night either, so just know I will be shattered later
I am hoping the old fridge freezer will go today, also a load of tiles from OH's workshop, a cupboard full to be exact! All different colours, and left by a previous occupant. I used some of these on my kitchen walls, laying them out in a pattern of different colours (but all the same type and size obviously). I used pale blue, cream and fawn and, though it sounds a bit dodgy, it looks fantastic, and people always comment on it. I have since seen something similar in one of those house/decor magazines that I am a bit addicted to- but I thought of it first!
The truth of it was, I had already spent so much on blummin tiles for the bathroom floor and walls, ensuite, kitchen and hall floors that I really didn't want to spend another few hundred quid on yet more for the kitchen walls!
Time for another coffee I think, and to start yet another day of freezer / mortgage busting0 -
I can't believe it - I lost a long post over the weekend, and now the same thing has happened again
Anyway, a quick update and hopefully it won't disappear this time!
Fridge freezer and tiles all gone. Got a lovely thank you email from the lady who had the ff
Set up overpayments on both my bank current accounts (I have 2 because I get paid a small 'reward' for paying into one of them monthly - free money). I will ring them to check they have gone through ok towards the end of the week, and then there will be no stopping me :T
You can overpay in a branch, but they only take cash or cheques (can't deal with debit cards for some reason). You can also pay by phone, using a debit card, but it often takes ages to get through and it hardly seems worth it for the odd tennerWhy C&G don't do online banking I don't know - after all, they are part of LTSB....
Oops, just noticed the time - must dash :eek:0 -

This happens to me quite alot - I don't know whther the posts are taking too long for me to type and they time me out!
Great news on the fridge freezer and tiles going - its nice too when people are genuinely grateful.
How about a veranda? (instead of a conservatory).

Bleurrgh, rubbish day at work, home late, then OH wanted to go to the supermarket - not sure why he had to wait till this evening and didn't just take himself earlier
Positive things today:
Free paper on train
HM soup for lunch (made it yesterday)
Prawn and salad wraps for supper - v. healthy
Just as well, as there are biscuits and chocs near my desk at work, and I succumbed to 2 of each this afternoon
Not drunk any wine :A
To do tomorrow:
Think about best place for micro-wave in recently rejigged kitchen
Chase up expenses which seem to have disappeared into a black hole somewhere
Pack up books for Zapper, but not send them till I get the cheque for the last lot.
Cook lamb shanks currently marinating in the fridge
Thank heaven it won't be Monday any more!0 -
Well, it isn't Monday, but I still didn't want to get out of bed. Just starting my second cup of coffee, last night's washing up done, porridge eaten, soon mad rush to get dressed, sort lunch to take to work and get outa the door
Must also leave instructions for the lamb shanks which have been marinating in the fridge (Nigella's recipe) and OH can just stick them in a casserole dish in the oven. Nigella says to roast them ..... hmm, not sure if they would be too tough, so I will cook slowly in their marinade, a sort of pot roast. I haven't made many of Nigella's recipes, but I got one of her books (the Nigella Express one) in a CS at the weekend, and I do like her 'no messing about' style. I saw her naan bread pizzas on the TV programme when it happened to be on (didn't watch it specially) and have made them ever since - they really are lovely, and take minutes
Will have roasted sweet potato chunks with it, and use up some cabbage and swede. Yum! Something to look forward to after work anyway0 -
Boring day at work that somehow managed to be tiring as well (yeurgh ) As I am over hours, as usual, I left at 3.45pm though :j
The lamb shanks a la Nigella were delicious
Curry and rice tomorrow, all from freezer, so no cooking, only heating up, adding creme fraiche and fresh coriander etc
I am obsessed with food at the moment due to using up
Had an email from Zapper to say that my cheque has been issued, so will pack up the next load of books ready to post.
Decluttering going well, more room on bookshelves (for more books) most tend to be from CS though
More decluttering - big old microwave to be freecycled, works ok. Wonder if I can find it a home
On one of the threads I read that C&G mortgages are now online. OMG - I must go and have a look :T0 -
Oh, had a look at C&G's website, and it seems you can apply for a mortgage online, but you have to phone or go to a branch to arrange an overpayment still  That is, you can't log in to see your own account or anything like that
Don't LTSB do online banking?
Bit of a let down0
