HH thanks for the info about wood for raised beds. OH no access to building sites(so that's why he was muttering about building sites) so B&Q here we come.........neither of us are any good at DIY but where there's a will there's a way! Or wait a minute..... must rejoin Freecycle and see what we can get.

Had a good trip to Wells today-OH treated me to lunch at the Whole Earth cafe as he adores their quiches. I had parsnip and caraway soup and a delicious bread roll. OH had his hair cut but my fave stylist was on holiday so I decided to wait for next week.

We are going to a model railway exhibition in Calne tomorrow (yawn) and I shall put a beef stew in the slowcooker before we go and then we are going to Devizes on Monday (OH doesn't do Mondays and after April I guess won't do any days...) to see my sister. She looks after greatnephew on Mondays and I shall get cuddles. He is just over a year old and nearly walking.

OH will be tired come work Tuesday with all this gallivanting and he has his redundancy consultation meeting on Thursday. Watch this space...

    Off to research raised beds.

    Have a good evening all.

Evening all, haven't done much today as still feel rough.Did a bit of tidying up, one load of washing, quick trip to Co-op and then had to have a lie down. Got up at about 3 and have manged to cook dinner but now feel shattered again. Early night for me I think.
Managed to speak to my brother today, Mum is still hanging in there but mostly sleeping and on a lot of morphine, she is not talking now. He sounded ok and is getting a bit more sleep as he doesn't stay at the hospital through the night now.
Hugs to all who need them, daisiegg hope your friend cheered you up. Have a good evening everyone.
Gintot what about railway sleepers for raised beds? We've bought some to replace a low wall which has collapsed in our garden, we got three long ones for £99 at our garden centre.

  • Gintot - my mum told me last week that you can buy actual raised beds whole (or like flat pack), not sure where but we were talking about my garden and she suggested them. I will see if I can find out where she saw them for you, but might not be able to give you answer til later in week as I'm away with work from Mon

  • I started my first capsual wardrobe when I got divorced, I'd worked from home for many years & I wore leggings & jumpers & had no tidy clothes as my ex had total control over all the money in the house. I had to find a job & all I had were 2 smart jackets, one black & one black & white check & a red silk blouse that had been a 40th birthday present, I had no skirts or trousers & only £20 to buy clothes & food until I was able to get a job. I bought a black skirt from a charity shop & wore it every day, just spot cleaning it to keep it looking smart I also bought a couple of pairs of thick black tights as they don't ladder easily I started temping & with my first pay I bought a cream blouse & a white one also from a charity shop, this set of clothes lasted me for years & I still have the red blouse & the 2 jackets.
Ten years later, I have more money, but not much by most people's standards & just before Christmas I decided I needed to smarten up even if just to make my self feel better, clothes buying is a nightmare for me as I'm 4'11 & overweight. But I have made a real effort. I decluttered my wardrobe & threw away loads of manky tops, I went through what was left & listed it, I then made a list of what I needed & I carry that in my bag, I bought a couple of dresses in the Tesco sale & everything else has come from charity shops. I now have 18 items that mix & match, the dearest item was £12.99, everything else cost less than £5 I have spent about £70 in total.

Thrown loads of clutter away today...I have to be ruthless the house is shrinking
None of us wanted a big dinner so we just had some soup tonight, it doesn't help that my mouth is so sore, I just can't be asked to cook:(
I am going to have a shower and get an early night, the telly is showing its usual Saturday rubbish so the set will stay off.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Gintot - The seed catalogues have raised beds in them, such as Suttons, Thomson & Morgan etc. They may be worth a try - at least you will get some idea of price.
