Just have to share this, I've finally got round to putting some numbers in the memory of our new phone, there are 3 buttons accross the top labeled Pete, Mark, Mum. Pete & Mark are hubby's brothers, I proudly showed him what I'd done. He said 'why does that one say Mum, how am I meant to know whether it's your Mum or my mum?' I eventually managed to stop laughing long enough to remind him that my Mum's beed dead best part of 20 years. Men!

 That reminds me of MIL. Called to see her, and she says "Hows your Mum and Dad?" Mums' fine thanks Janet, Dads' still dead (and had been for 15 years at that point!) People look at me gone out cos I laugh
my head off every time I tell the story :D

Bright and breezy here this morning, am supposed to be tidying the living room but Nigel Slater is on TV showing me how to use up leftovers. Cant possibly switch it off :o
Still feeling a bit grotty, this Fluey/chesty buggy thing truly is bugging me now, as soon as I start to feel better I do a bit too much and end up back in bed
DD is coming for a Saturday Night Feast! Its my turn to cook  so Im doing Red Thai Chicken curry, Red Thai Fish Curry, Stirfried Prawns and Jasmine Coconut Rice. YUM!! And cos Im cooking, its DD and DH to wash up :D

Ooh, Nigel's doing something interesting with Butternut Squash and Bacon, see you later........
Don't put it DOWN, put it AWAY! ;)

    Morning all

Thanks for the support yesterday. Always know I can count on you lot!

Just a quick one as I have friends arriving in a minute. Arranged before I got ill and I thought of putting it off, but my old best friend who I now only tend to see about three times a year is coming, and she's so hard to get hold of I know if I cancelled today it might be months before the next opportunity! They are very good friends so I know they'll understand if I'm not my usual bright self. Just being up for a few hours this morning tidying the house, washing my hair and prepping lunch has drained me. The pain is still really bad and I want to go back to bed :( I know my friends will cheer me up though!

Hope everyone is well and has a good, restful weekend xx

    Afternoon everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Wet and windy but here. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was £10 chinese meal deal from mrm's, was ok, but not as nice as making it yourself, think I won't bother again!

Been out this morning as DS2 was complaining his trainers were too tight, got his feet measured and his current one's were a size and a half to small, ..... I'm such a bad mother! He just seems to be growing so much - think he must have his feet in a bag of s**t every night! Did manage to get him a nice pair in the sale for £35 - so not too bad!

Not really sure what we're going to have for dinner tonight - will have to search the fridge and freezers, but have remembered to get the meat out to defrost for tomorrow's roast. The food shopping cost a fortune yesterday, although I did purchase several extra bits that were on offer, and a dvd. Will be being extra careful - and I did get some baking done yesterday - made some chocolate brownies and a victoria sponge, there's also a few mince pies left that I made the day before.

I'm trying to research hotels and travel options for DH's next meeting in London, am trying to work out best routes, best accommodation etc - we get a expenses back so just trying to get the best possible deals!

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

sistercas - make sure your DH takes his time recovering. My work colleague had meningitis and it took a long time to rcover plus it b*ggered up his thyroid afterwards too so he's now on medication for life. Dont be frightened to seek medical advice if he seems poorly. x x x x

thankyou its funny you should mention thyroid , the gp has just done a blood test to check that , we are waiting for the results

    ROSYRED,
That must be really worrying for you and your DH, thank goodness we are not involved with VAT. It's been an expensive month for us what with DH's van failing the MoT, we paid for welding and a new exhaust, wipers and tyres. Then it had to be taxed. The insurance runs out on the 31st. We've just had to renew house insurance on one of the properties we rent out plus our own home.
Fortunately I have been squireling away any spare cash we have so might just be able to pay the tax on time, it really is a lot. Plus we have to pay thousands more on July 31st. What will happen should any of our tenents deceide to move out I dread to think. We don't have any mortgages so that's a blessing, also we take great care of whoever is renting from us and take a pride in keeping the houses in tip top condition. I allways say it is our property but it is their home and we will never go in without their permission.
Anyhoo I digress, I will stick to scrimping to pay the bill but begrudge having to pay tax on money we haven't earnt.
Gets off soap box and grabs me coat.
Edit to say : ROSY you are right, ok it's only money gulp, gulp, :o and you made me remember that health is priceless, so I ought to count my blessings instead of the pennies. :o

good afternoon all, just had a nice visit from eldest DD for a couple of hours which for her is good as she's always rushing around like a mad thing.Did a 'tip' runwith DGS this morning and got rid of lots of junk for his Mum.
Eldest DD said keep April 5th clear (seems she's got tickets for us both for Billy Elliot in London as part of my birthday present next month:j:j:jalso have something else to come but I don't know what it will be just yet.
Dull windy and damp here so I am going to shut the dark afternoon out and put my feet up and do some knitting tonight and watch some catch-up t.v.
Chop, mash and peas for dinner ,nice and easy and cheap as I got it all from the freezer so NSD for me today.
Hope you all have a good week-end whatever you are getting up to.I may do some baking tomorrow and refill my empty cake tins.
    Cheers chums

Ooooh......so there are advatages to not having enough income to pay tax. I feel for those of you still in the workplace and having all these pressures. I could be joining you soon. When,(WHEN) we finally sell Dad's little bungalow I will have a bit of money behind me:j:j:j:T:T:T:beer::beer: and as the interest rate is so abysmal I am looking at buying a small, cheap, (VERY small and VERY cheap!) flat and renting it out to boost my indescribably tiny pension. I have this terrible fear that if I don't do something like that the money will be absorbed into living expenses and I will end up with nothing again. Nothing has happened as yet, but my fingers, toes and other inaccessible parts of my body are tightly crossed.

I caught sight of myself in a shop window this morning.:eek::eek: Beige shoes, brown socks, shocking pink trousers, royal blue fleece and scarlet scarf. I was wearing a sober white jumper but no-one could see that. So where do I start with the capsule wardrobe HH?:D

Psyching myself up for the haggis, bagpipes and Auld Lang Syne.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.
