Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 21st January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Too dark to see what the weather's like here but it's not raining at the moment
Beth, great news, what a relief.
Hugs to Mrs Mix & Molly.
Plans for today include shopping for hubby's new work uniform with a purchase order from work, so no cash to pay out & claim back.
Hubby is itching to potter in the garden for a while & I shall go & play with my clothes, I've spent the last 2 months Goking & I have built up a 'capsual wardrobe' of items, all from charity shops & sales & all chosen to go with each other, today I'l hoping to work out how many different outfits I can make with them.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone,
Hester, I am a big fan of Gok too.
I have had a lovely lie in and am still in my dressing gown with nowhere to rush off to, it is brilliant!
Today I plan to go to the supermarket and that is it, apart from a cup of tea with my friend!
Oh and a load of cooking as usual, and washing, and sorting out the children, and tidying....................:D
Hugs to all in need especially Molly, Mrsmix, Lou and LW.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
I've done my list of things to do today. It's long.... and I've ticked one thing off so far! Unfortunately for the other jobs I've got to get dressed and get my bottom off the sofa.
It's the Farmers' Market in our little town today, so I really need to crack on and get down there. There is one little meat stall who has just started going and they have the most divine sausages. I was discussing the quality of sausages at work the other day. Most of us agreed whole heartedly that "proper" sausages from a butcher are far better than even the "proper" (eg Finest/Taste the Difference) sausages in the supermarkets.
I've also got to sort out our holiday to Jordan for half term. :j I'm so excited and we're meeting a friend there who is working in Qatar. Well, it's almost half way isn't it?I'm in charge of booking hotels, which I will do via Topcashback to get cashback for us all!

Got OH work clothes in the wash on a boil, will get them on the line in a while, its blowy here, but meant to rain later on. My sis is flying back from spain later so will be here to collect older grumpy dogshe is actually very sweet but used to ruling the roost at home, and I am top dog here
Need to have a quick tidy through today, and get some ebay parcels posted off, have some more finishing tomorrow which are doing very well atm :T
Might go and see dad later on, will see how I am feeling, do not want to pass anything onto him.
Dinner tonight is a pork steak, with mustrooms peppers etc in a tiger bagette, nice and easy.
Sistercas hope your hubby is ok xx
Beth great news :T
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Just have to share this, I've finally got round to putting some numbers in the memory of our new phone, there are 3 buttons across the top labeled Pete, Mark, Mum. Pete & Mark are hubby's brothers, I proudly showed him what I'd done. He said 'why does that one say Mum, how am I meant to know whether it's your Mum or my mum?' I eventually managed to stop laughing long enough to remind him that my Mum's been dead best part of 20 years. Men!

Another rough night here weatherwise, the slates are doing a merry dance up there! Still, builder may be popping round this morning to have a look.
Beth, what a relief! Fantastic news.
Hugs to all those not doing so well, esp LW, Mrs Mix, Molly.
Received my parcel of wool the other day, the hat I started to knit on circular needles has been taken apart again as the circular bit was too long and was stretching it. Went and got another yesterday so can start again some time. Also knitted one slipper (will do the other tonight) for DD and it's lovely. Should be though as the wool cost £12.95! It is slightly large though and I don't thing there's enough for the second one so will have to buy another skein, grrr.
Oh well, banana bread is in the oven (was given a large bag of bananas yesterday), WM on and DW going on in a mo. Not much else happening, just bits to get at A!di today.
Take care and enjoy your weekends. XX0 -

wow Hester if you managed to be able to ring your mum that would be something:rotfl:
Operation install free dishwasher day today. Having to sacrifice a double cupboard under the sink and replace it with a single so not entirely cost free still never mind, it means we don't have to try and work out a way of getting cold water to and waste water from the garage for the washing machine. It will mean I need to sort out under the sink though  a cull of excess stuff is in order.
Other than that it will be tea and coffee making for my parents, keeps the kids out of the way and entertaining them.
pizza probably for tea.
Hugs and spoons all round.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Still in bed with lappie. Thinking about the garden with OH although really windy here atm. HH where does your OH get the wood for the raised beds?
OH is fancying making us some this year...what is the best wood and where do you get it? Any construction tips gratefully received.
Off to Wells today-haircuts and a mooch round the market.
Tea not thought about yet but OH fancies pasta. We had some lovely salmon last night from the freezer -orange and cranberry from M&S and I don't like fish but quite enjoyed it.....DS road tested one of the £1tinned pies from the poundshop and it was quite nice so off to get some this weekend. Need to consider more frugality as OH redundancy looms.
Have a good day all

My new (to me) WM has been deliveredjust gotta wait to see if my Dad can connect it today or in the week. My friend's partner is the manager of a charity shop that sells electricals and he had been keeping an eye out for me for a good one, it cost me £60. Need to google the manual later too.
Still feeling a bit under the weather, haven't slept properly for over a week so may need an afternoon nap later. But just got a cough now, so am on the mend.
Plan for today is to do uni work, all daybut it's got to be done. My friend may pop over for an hour later to see the new house so will get a break then.
OS wise - if WM is fitted will try that out later, dishes need washing, lunch will be something on toast, dinner will be yday's LO chinese.
Have a great day all

Morning all,
Had a lay-in today, not only did I manage more then 5.5hrs, I for to bed early, and up late... I love weekends because I can go back to bed after 5am. So i got 8.5hrs hours with 2 wake up calls. And then got some lovely photos of DS and DH with Eliza.
DH has been to the butchers, and dropped the car at the garage (both breaklights are out... teaches me to ignore it when the first went) am going to get up and ready and go register Eliza today. DS has homework, then we're watching a DVD with him.
Dinner is Butternut Squash Soup and HM Granary Rolls (so I need to make rolls) and put on a loaf. Also need to make beef stew for tomorrow and fridge it to let the flavours mix. And DH and DS need to make a cake for lunch boxes.
And I need to get the washing on and fold and put away.
Busy day, and I'm still ignoring the dust... that can wait until DS is away next weekend.
Enjoy your day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240
