Hi, I actually have a Dell 1012 netbook, and mine ran like crap. Best thing I did was upgrade the RAM - single slot so you have to buy the compatible 2GB RAM board. I think yours will be the same - check on crucial.co.ukFriendly greeting!0

This is what it says on Microsoft site:
Check if the System Event Notification Service is running or not. To check for the services
1. Click on Start
2. In the start Search box type Services
3. Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN
Check if the below mentioned services has the mentioned status and start up type.
System Event Notification Service Started Automatic
Also, check the dependency services that are required for System Restore Service to run.
To check that double click on the service and click on the dependency tab.0 -
Id remove this:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CapsLKNotify] C:\Program Files\CapsLKNotify\CapsLKNotify.exe
if thats no different id remove these (As having 4 all the same ip is almost certainly conflicting)
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{68B8A942-8378-4601-B595-D44547846C66}: NameServer = 212.23.3.100,212.23.6.100
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{F696CC4D-382C-427F-BB05-F706999B13BA}: NameServer = 212.23.3.100,212.23.6.100
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{68B8A942-8378-4601-B595-D44547846C66}: NameServer = 212.23.3.100,212.23.6.100
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{68B8A942-8378-4601-B595-D44547846C66}: NameServer = 212.23.3.100,212.23.6.100:idea:0 -

@billygoat unable to perform system restore as when I go into system restore no restore points available:(
Also already tried other suggestion before you posted and all was ok on that side, so the search continues to resolve that issue.
@the grandmaster I'm unable to use mbam in either safe mode or normal mode the notebook freezes up and won't perform anything! I can't even shut it down correctly:(
@danthemoneysavingman adding more memory isn't the issue here as the owner said this notebook was running perfectly ok until one day the pop up at start up as previously mentioned started.0 -
As this problem is ongoing with no resolve in sight will a reinstall of the OS be my only option, so returning it back to its original condition as when it was new?
Can this be done on notebooks as there is no drive partition?0 -
Have you tried removing this? :
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CapsLKNotify] C:\Program Files\CapsLKNotify\CapsLKNotify.exe:idea:0 -

Does it still freeze up in safe mode?:idea:0
-
Yep still freezes:(
Even failed to boot earlier in safe mode and entered a repair startup mode which came back with results sayings windows could not repair the errors!
After which it booted up correctly in normal mode, and froze again as soon as I tried to do anything!0
