Thanks Kerri. That was the regular Felix and this is the 'posh' one :rotfl: price is usually £4.29 but my cats def prefer it to the normal one (though I did buy a few when they were down from £3.29 to £2.50 ;) They cope every now and then )

Thanks for the tip HP - my cats too will only eat Felix AGAIL and was needing to buy some more today - a little trip to Mr M's for me tonight :D

My question today is this - I am keeping a tally of what my first purse owes my second purse (as I opened my store AFTER I had done my main shop for the month) and as I use my cc to pay for my shopping I won't actually have the cash to pay into my 2nd purse until next month, when I will be paying for ALL my shopping in cash. So do I -

    1) Buy the cat food out of my second purse, which means I will have to put some of my own money in to cover it as effectively the cash won't be there until March's shop (I run from 23 - 22 of month) or

    2) Pay for it on my credit card using this month's money, which will put me further over budget and then continue with my virtual 2nd purse?

Also the money I will owe to my 2nd purse next month will be loads, which means my budget will be down BEFORE I even start the month, so do I up my budget from the usual amount to cover the amount owed to purse no 2?

Sorry for all these questions, but as you might realise by now I am really struggling with getting my head around this new system.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated ;)

    Hi MunniMuncher,
I've got confused with your post... but depending on your budget of course... you could loan money to your second purse if you have it so you can buy the cat food.
How many do your cats eat a month?
If you buy enough to cover this month and next month will it make you short of cash?
If the answer is no, then loan your second purse the money and pay it back as and when you can. I keep track of this by putting negative numbers in the "into purse" column on my spreadsheet, that way I can look down and think "oooh I haven't paid for my beans yet" and when I have the money I will pay the purse back.
If you can't afford to buy the cat food, then there will be another offer on soon enough I'm sure. Do you SB for rainforest tokens? If you do then the rainforest has 48 packs for £12 with free delivery of their sensation, and I've cameled the price fluctuation and it goes up and down, so might be worth keeping an eye out there as well. The reason I ask if you SB is that you could use the rainforest tokens you earn to feed your cats for free :)
I hope I've made some sense there, I'm in a bit of a foul mood (not with anyone here) so my thinking is a bit erratic to say the least.

    Bargain alert
Allinsons Easy bake Yeast Pouches £1.68 for 12 packs of 6 x 7g
Should be enough for me to practice bread making... shows as temporarily out of stock, but I've had that before with the fairy liquid and all of that turned up ok

hahaha I've ordered 5 lots, and just worked out that that's 5 x 12 x 6 lots of 7g... oops so I have ordered 360 7g pouches, which is the same as 2.52kg of yeast.... for £8.40... 86p for 100g in the shops, so as long as I use it all that's a huggge saving of £43.20

    Hello MunniMuncha :hello:

I'm afraid I'm also a little confused at the moment, without knowing the ins and outs of your finances

If I were you, especially as you are a little confused by the concept in general, that you continue just to do your grocery shopping and budgeting as normal until you can afford to give the second purse its float money. I know it means delaying the start of your shop's 'trading' but it might also prevent you getting in a muddle.

Otherwise, if you can afford it (on your credit card), you could effectively allocate an amount of money to your second purse (£10, £20, whatever you have decided on) for February but just use the credit card to make the purchases. (I think this is what you mean by your virtual second purse?) To keep it clearer in your own mind, maybe put the transaction through separately from your normal grocery spend, then you know exactly how much your second purse has spent, IYSWIM. I think it really depends on how going over budget will affect your finances versus how good you think the bargains are and whether it's better to buy now or wait until another offer comes around in the future.

I hope that helps. Please don't worry about asking questions. I'm sure it will all become clearer once you get going.

Just had to buy some sugar from SOS as we were running veeeeeeeeery low, so 55p into 2nd purse and 37p into the 3rd purse. Can't believe there is already £1.35 in my 3rd purse  It seems I will happily pay full price for things when I need them, and I always thought I was quite a bargain hunter

Sorry Kerri that my post is confusing - I am confused myself so don't suppose that helps :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My cats each 4 pouches a day so until the end of February I will need 10 boxes (roughly speaking). I have a credit of £30 on my day to day credit card, so think I will use that to buy the cat food -which will leave my grocery budget in tact and will then buy them back for MunniMart and add this to what I owe in my 2nd purse.

I too have a column on my spreadsheet which shows how much I need to put into the 2nd purse, which I will do next payday from my grocery budget. Will not up next month's grocery budget, but try and come into budget instead.

Can I ask what are rainforest tokens and what does SB mean?

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling A1 and hope that you are feeling better soon. Thank you for your help and advice :T- with all your help and this site I know I will get there in the end (fingers crossed) :D
