My understanding is that you're doing it the way it's detailed at the start of the thread - you only move to purse 3 once you've got a 'float' of £100 in purse 2.

EEEEE! I love it when I get a voucher, it gives yer wee shop a boost.

    Heres what I bought...

    10 Washing up Liquids @ .75p each £7.50
    Selling in shop £1.00
    Profit for purse £2.50

    10 Packs of Butter @ £1.19 each £11.90
Selling in shop @ £1.40 each
    Profit for purse £2.10

    3 packs of cotton buds @ 35p each £1.05
Selling in shop for 75p each
    Profit for purse £1.40

    4 Packs of Ground coffee @ £1.79 each £7.16
Selling in shop @ £2.50 each
    Profit for purse £2.84

    3 Packs of 2 Tooth brushes @ .79p each £2.37
    Selling @ .79p each
    Profit for purse £2.37

I got a few wee bits to take me just over the £30 so I Spent £26.27 with the £5 off voucher.
The profit for the purse from this shop is £13.34 about half the total spend.
You will notice I didn't add too much profit to this lot, I priced it at what I wanted to pay for it.

I bought 2 papers so I have another voucher, will buy more in a few days. I really like the washing up liquid so I might get more of those and some kitchen rolls, only got 8 Rolls left ( bought loads on offer in MR T's 3 years ago and thats me just coming to the end of them now).

I was reading through the paper and found coupons for L!dl for FREE lentils and basmati rice. So... I went in and got a 7.5 k Bag of potatoes and my freebies . and sent OH in for milk and two more freebies, so my lentil jar is topped up :) So I'm well pleased. I paid the 2nd purse 80p each for them.

    TOP TIP

Until you get your stock up don't be tempted to overspend for your shop if you think there's a chance you may run out of money before the end of the month. Spend wisely and if there's anything left over at the end of the month use that to give your 2nd Purse a boost and more buying power for the next month.

I forgot to tell you what I do if I come under my £200 budget for the month after I've paid the purse etc, this month I came in at around £170 that left me with £30. I spend that on ME

    BARGAIN ALERT

I just bought 4 packs of 24 Iron Brew For £4 each delivered.
Will sell in shop for .50p each Total Profit for shop £32

I have no idea what's wrong with the spreadsheet, until I can work out why it won't let only a select number of people edit I've set it to anyone and their dog can edit. Just hoping noone comes along to saboutage it. Enjoy

  • Hello everyone :hello:and would love to join this challenge, if I may? I think I have got the jist of it, but my problem is this. I have a cc for my groceries and petrol which then gets paid every month. It is usually way over budget :eek:but now am finally going to do something about it and I think this will help me do it. As my cc is always in arrears I don't have the cash available now as I have last month's bill to pay for - IYSWIM? So is it possible to still do this challenge and then slowly revert from using cc to using cash (which I think will take forever to transport across) or for one month only do I pay off the cc and also start this challenge in cash? Am confused and not sure what to do about this, so wondering if you wonderful people could help me.

I have got to page 7 so far of this thread and intend to read ALL of the pages, as on each page I am learning something new, but thought I would post my questions now as it will be another week before I get to the end :rotfl:

One other thing, is that I started my month last week (on 23rd) and have nearly met my budget already (did one big shop and now, hopefully, 3 little ones for the next 3 weeks - only spent £10.20 for this week) so will I have to wait until 23rd Feb to start this challenge?

Many thanks for any help you are able to give:T

Thanks Kerri - though the dogs might cause problems if they're not familiar with spreadsheets ;)

Hi welcome to the challenge :).

I think you will be able to do this without switching from credit card to cash if you want to by using a spreadsheet to keep track of things but Kerri will be able to advise you on that, as I'm not sure of the mechanics of doing it that way.

You could start it in a very small way if you don't have much budget left for this month by perhaps just putting £5.00 aside in case you spot any really good offers??

Hi MunniMuncha and welcome - I think we will all help each other along the way. this is the first month I have ever done a budget so alas I can offer no advice on how to transition from the cc to cash - I am sure someone can help though.

Even if you can't start till later next month you can identify items you already have and what items you use a lot which can get some turnover into your little shop so you know what to start looking for and of course keeping an eye out for bargains as some offers may not end until you start IYKWIM.

Oh I nearly forgot - you could also identify where you can keep your purchases - mine are spread around the house and garage.
