Morning all - glad to see everyone is doing well.:D

I was just wondering whether you tell your 'real-life' friends about the 2P method? I have been out with different sets of friends the last 2 weekends and I have mentioned the 2P system - which was greeted with lots of hilarity:o.

I did try and explain how it works (amongst lots of laughter and people not getting the concept of it - or maybe it's just that I can't explain it properly) but it did make me wonder whether I am going to talk about it anymore to 'real-life' people as their reaction is always the same.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

Munni - I have tried to explain it to both best friend and Him Indoors and they think I'm mental, so I've given up :D

I counted up third purse this morning and there's over £85 in it, so I know it's working, even if other people think I'm barmy ;)

I did tell my brother and he also found it funny and didn't really get it. I have told a few friends and got some funny looks so I don't bother now and think it is their loss if they want to give extra money to the supermarkets :D

Yes I did tell them that over the last 3 months I have made over £200 profit, but they still think I'm mad.

Just want to tell everyone that I come into contact with how great this system is, but what amazes me on how dismissive they are. Only ONE person I have told was really interested and is thinking of starting up the system - and that was a really refreshing change; talking to someone who didn't laugh at me:)

Welcome to my world LOL! Yes, I know the feeling well. They WONT EVER get it, I have one friend of 30 years, who has 5 times my income, who thinks I have an unlimited budget, and who borrows from ME when she hits hard times. For 3-4 years while her husband was 'drinking' I took her to M@kro to get her a months supply of food etc, she paid me back the following month and the money was spent in M@kro again for the next months supplies. As I said this money was tied up for 3- 4 years. On top of that if they ran out of anything, she got it from my stores , and it was never paid back. She was jealous of my 'income' and standard of living, and would say things like Its all right for you. She lived next door to me and her husband got their supplies daily from a local asian store, the most expensive way to shop.
I tried many a time to get her into the 2nd Purse system, but she didn't listen to me.
Recently my youngest daughter had a pop at me, when my jar of lentils was replenished from my 'store', I told her I got them from Am@zon at half the SMK't price. She said it was hilarious how I always tried to justify my spending. When I told her that I had to buy this way as I didn't have a 'regular' income. And never knew what I was going to have from one month to the next. And it was the only way I could feed my family. I was almost in tears, then she realised how seriously I take this.
I only told my OH last year, it wasn't until I started using the 2nd Purse for everything that he started to notice I wasn't spending as much as I used to in the SMKt's.

All I know is it works, and its saw me through a lifetime of hard times, recessions, illness, unemployment, child rearing etc. When I first posted on this forum about the 2nd Purse, it got a mixed reaction. Most people think that its overspending, and it will lower their standard of living, when its quite the opposite.

Its been really lovely having all of you 'there', it gets lonely sometimes, especially when your real life friends and family don't 'get you!' My greatest pleasure comes from knowing where my wee 2nd purse system is going to take you and your families :D

Aw thank you Mothership for showing me the way - there is no way I will ever go back to my old way of shopping. Like your friends/family and mine, I've come to realise that it's their loss and if they want to keep on giving the SMs their hard earned wages, then at least we can say it wasn't that we didn't try.:D

I am convinced that if you went on one of Martin Lewis' :money:programmes (whenever he does his next one) and explain this to the nation, people would sit up and listen and the Sms would be quaking in their boots. Might just suggest it to Martin myself;)

Was also thinking of doing SP'ing with my OH's cigarettes. We go to spain annually and bring back enough supplies for 12 months:eek:. But this year I am thinking of buying them back at the price we would pay for them in this country (as if we didn't go to spain we would have to pay full price anyway:mad:) and then maybe that'll show him how much we are actually spending on cigarettes over a year (plus also pay for our trip out there!)

I have tbh though, I have the the occasional ciggie, so can't blame all the cost on him and he does do overtime to pay for his habit;)

Me again - sorry for this post as it is not about SP'ing but hoping that you peeps can help:o

I have cooked some DR diced steak in the slow cooker for about 5 hours and tbh it is a bit chewy - does that mean I have overcooked it, or that it needs more cooking?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I've given up caring what people think, I have food in my cupboards and more money to spend on lifes little luxuries. If other people want to laugh at me because I'm saving money then more fool them. Why would I want to pay 50p for a tin of beans I can get for 25p? Just doesn't make sense to waste half my money.

Mothership, I'm so pleased you showed us the way and I'm especially pleased that you love hearing all our stories too :) I cannot wait to move in with my OH and be able to have a proper pantry style thing going on in our kitchen full of lovely SP food. He's said I can do all the food shopping as I'm apparently better with money than him....not sure where he's got that from I seem to still fritter away just as much but I'm saving on the food shopping so I feel more flush :) I've even convinced my champagne and cocktails housemate to get a pantry and shop around for deals :)
