trying_hard wrote: »Hi everyone
Can I join in please? I have read a few pages and will catch up over the next few days. There are a lot of abbreviations on this threadWhat is AF and Mr C is that Mr Co-op? SP is second purse ?
If I buy a bogof and put the free item away, do I then buy it back at the full price? and what purse would I put that in? and do you have a purse just for offers, separate from your main grocery budget?
Sorry for all the questions but I got up to posting number 500 and got lost along the way!!!
Thanks x
Hi and welcome, you will love it. Some buy back at full price, others don't. The beauty of this thread is that we don't get uptight about how you do it, we say here is the basics and the rest is you choice, very different from some threads :rotfl:
I have purchased BOGOF items paid full from first purse and added the freebie to the second purse at 0p then bought back at full. Don't panic about trying to buy loads of items, just start with the things you use regularly and it will soon build, most of us only started after Christmas :TDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! What was supposed to be a quiet week, turned into a busy one, with lots of buying bargains using coupons courtesy of my new printer :j and going out when I thought I would be in and unexpected people to feed :rotfl:
I got completely confuzzled with purses but think I am sorted now!
Bought from Sallys Stores:-
Loo rolls bought @ £2.80 paid £4.00
Colour catchers bought @ £2.00 paid £3.00
Fabric Softner bought @ £1.00 paid £2.00
Wotsits bought @ £1.75 paid £2.00
SP now has £20 (my self imposed limit) and 3rd Purse has £43 :T:T:T
I have joined the April GC to try and motivate me to track what I spend.
And I really dont need any shopping except milk as and when and maybe some eggs (gone off them lately though)....
I have to STOP making grocery shopping my hobby of choice!!
I have plenty of meat in the freezer to cook from scratch (maybe need a bit more veg) and I have frozen portions of left overs like Indian takeaway, chicken casserole, shepherds pie etc for when I cant be bothered to cook.
Enjoy April all you SPers and welcome to anyone new joining
us :T
Btw if I can tidy it up a bit, I will try and post a photo of my household bit of Sallys Stores.......I insist all visitors admire it before they are allowed a cup of tea!! :T0 -

1 Onion chopped
A few rashers of bacon + a few sausages if you have them cut into wee dods.
Fry them all together add a little olive oil and or butter if too dry.
Make up a pack of stuffing and add to the pan, stir around for a few minutes.
Transfer mixture into a buttered baking dish (pack it loosely so you get lots of wee crispy yummy bits.
Bake in the oven for about 20 min @ 180-200
I'm gutting out the kitchen cupboards and giving some things new homes, I freed up a veg drawer for my huge bag of flour, much better.
I'm giving everything a bath in the dishwasher. My 3rd Purse collection of volcanic Le creuset is gleaming.
I've not been shopping for a few days lol, OH thinks I'm ill.
My wee sister gave me 100's of miniature bottles of malt whiskey and a few collectors full size bottles of whiskey and brandy. Her OH used to drink a lot and wanted them out of the house. Goodness knows what I will do with them Lol. I only use alcohol in cooking.
I recently got a 1p book on bicarbonate of soda on @mazon . Unbelievable stuff my oven came up like new with minimum effort, and no expensive oven cleaners.
Kerri I got my DR gifts, thank you! 2 nice small chopping boards. and mince and stewing steak, I asked for aprons but got beef , never mind , I JUST managed to squeeze it in the freezer. We will need to eat the freezer to make way for the next delivery. Canny wait for a new F/Freezer.
If your ever up this way again let me know1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:

Aw Mothership, I could have treated you to a meal out if I'd thought about it but it was all so last minute. Next time I'm up in the Edinburgh office I shall remember to send you a wee message, we get an "entertaining" allowance for meals. So glad you got your gifts after all that time
The chopping boards are so well made, I'm really impressed with mine although haven't used it yet, it's in the pile of things to put into my flat in Cardiff when I move end of the year
Jakes-mum, an amazing stuffing recipe I found was the PETA one I used for the nut roast, I've used spelt bread to make it gluten free recipe
It's easy enough for me to make! Just whack all the ingredients in the food processor, put it out into a tray and cook mmm mmm mmm.
I've just fake-paid myself for the clothing I bought in Gretna and my SP is still in the red, but only by £13 nowI've got tonnes of stock, so I might be a little quiet on the buying front from now on, so hopefully I should see it start to build up into my 3rd purse soon
I'm really jealous of everyones roasts today, we're having fritattas but I'm sure they'll be yummy anyway, just love my roast though
Hope everyone gets out into the sunshine today as wellxx
