Mothership, I am very surprised that a thread has not been started before, it's genius (ta again Kerri)
I have to tell you all, a couple of Fridays ago I explained it to my mum, who said in that tone "yes dear, I will have a go" Yeah I thought.
To my utter shock, this Friday when I asked her how it was going, I was expecting a vague muttering from her, she proudly told me she had £8 in her second purse :eek::eek:

I think I mentioned before I've wanted to do this since I first posted, but didn't know how. I needed someone like Kerri to help with the links spreadsheet etc. I couldn't understand how it wasn't picked up by more people. I'm so pleased more folk are doing it now.

I used to just do it with groceries, now I do it with luxury items, lancome skincare/makeup all sorts(but ONLY things that will be used), I got 5 of one of their xmas special boxes I got on a glitch for a ridiculous price, two I gave as gifts. All paid for by the 3rd purse, there was a long time when I had no skin care whatsoever, I couldn't afford it.
I keep 10% of my 3rd Purse for grabbits/glitches, And my ebay stuff.

I went nuts Xmas before last, my daughters had their best xmas EVER.
I always buy them perfume at xmas, I spent the perfume money in Boots on soap and glory, specials etc. I spent over £400 but ended up with over £300 in points, which I then spent on perfume, and cleaned up in the sales buying the xmas toiletry gifts for last year.

I've got it to the stage where I want to see just how little I can spend on groceries.
Its even more exciting now there are a group of us.
There's nothing that would please me more than to see all of you achieving your goals and making your money go as far as it can P-O-U-N-D-S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G!

Its making sense now.. dont know whether to have 100 pound in my purse 1, rather than the whole amount of 400 as it may be too much to deal with.
So from my 100 pound, do i move 10 pound over to my 2nd purse thus leaving 90 in purse 1,

Hmm how shall i manage this please.. in a muddle in my head!

I get the impression that most people are putting in an extra £10, so in your instance you would leave your £400 in purse 1 and £10 in purse 2, giving £410 in total. But it depends if you have it spare. If you don't and you think you can make do on a lower grocery budget (£390) then you can do it that way, too. I'm sure one of the pros will correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Ok I've updated the 1st post to try to make it more understandable as to how it works, mothership can you let me know if it's explained clearer now? I've used the shopkeeper/customer analogy and examples of SM prices or cost + difference :)

  • I have found the £15 (i'm starting off a bit higher) from reducing another budget so that i still have my £250 a month budget. As i realise it will take a few months to get a decent stock. Once I have enough stock so that my grocery budget is getting lower i may take it from there each month instead. Also i had a think about the surf washing gel  and no way am i going to part with £8.49 even if the money is going to ME :rotfl: so i think what i will do is perhaps set a sensible limit as to how much i might pay, for example i wouldn't mind paying £5 or 6 for it.....cos if i end up paying full price for it all back I don't think i would have enough in my grocery budget to feed us :rotfl:then i'd feel like i was 'stealing' from myself (yep, i'm a little bonkers )

I think the really bonkers ones are the ones that already buy it at SM prices rather than when it's on offer :)

I think this is a great idea. thanks kerri for starting this thread. I am going to join the GC in February and had read about the second purse but it makes it alot clearer when it's all in one thread.

like most people I am finding it hard to get my head around buying items at full price. I can see the logic and purses 2 and 3 will be great but not sure how paying full price will affect my purse one budget. does this make sense? I can see my GC budget going over if I am buying back my stock at high prices.

I guess I will go for it and see how it goes. I am quite excited but still have a week to go till payday.

I must confess to having been one of those people in the past. Never really looked at offers, or prices in general. And that's why I'm in this state :o:rotfl::o Time to claim it back :T

and debtfreewannabe321 I don't think you're bonkers at all - I can completely understand that feeling :rotfl:
