So I think I've been doing Second Purse Extreme Edition :p I've included things like contact lenses purchases done on a yearly basis charged at monthly rate, valentines cards bought for free charged at £3.45, e-readers bought using vouchers charged at full price etc... as well as normal groceries...

I thought I'd show my extreme figures to give an idea of where the purse can take you if you choose :) afterall it's about shopping around for the best deals isn't it?

So... I've spent £304.32 (£110 was contact lenses)
If I hadn't found all the deals I have, I would have paid £709.39
This gives me a massive saving of £405.07
I owe my first purse £57.56 as I'm counting this as a loan from one to the other, and currently have £1.71 in my 2nd purse.
I know that some of the deals I purchased weren't the best for my money, and I'm also charging myself the full price when I buy back as that's what I would have paid before my LBM. So hopefully when all my stock is depleted I'll have a huge £400+ in savings just from what I've bought so far after paying my 1st purse back. My current stockpile is worth over £400 :)

Here's an idea of what my stockpile spreadsheet looks like:

Its the D Russell meat from the freezer, I charge myself £3 per item even if its more expensive. I use the money to buy more D Russell meat, I will be placing another order soon, I've left a slot free each month waiting for different offers to come up , so I get a good selection. I've got stuff coming until August. I will post what I buy and what I've got coming if anyone is interested.

Ah now that's a good idea! Have paid for this out of my 1st purse this month, but will pay back to my 2nd purse when I use it - if I put £2 per item then that will compensate for the fact that I have already paid for it from 1st purse. Then from my next order, shall buy if from 2nd purse and charge myself more - is that correct?

Yes please, am always interested in how to make the best use of my pennies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Wow Kerri, that is impressive - what a saving, bet you are well chuffed?

  • I', a little confused about DR ordering, I understand the referal bit (at last! lol) but it seems to me to still be as expensive as meat elsewhere even when they have good offers? We are having to budget a bit more tightly and can't stand the cheap meat that after cutting into it you question if it's something you should be eating but realistically is it alot more to do this?

A little jealous of those who have AF orders arriving. I looked at the site a weekago and didn't order as the savings didn't look that great, went back yesterday for a look and some of the offers I had been interested in had already vanished! I don't suppose they have any free delivey codes or anything so I could buy a small amount instead of loads of items we may or may not use?

  • savvybunny. My first order I had free delivery....the second i paid for and the last one i just did was free again. I think they do it every now & then ( I don't know if there is a pattern to the free delivery or not) but p&p is usually £5.25 otherwise. Which i still think is ok when you look at how much you are saving :) i just take into account that i will have £5 p&p before starting and so absorb the cost in my grocery bill. of course it's always a bonus when delivery is free though ;)

  • Hi Savvy - I made my first order with AF on Sunday and noticed that some of the items had free delivery on them. For example I was going to order 20 bags of Special K snacks at 10p each, but there was an offer on that if you ordered 30 packets the cost was £6.99 but this was offset by free delivery charge (ie actually only cost £1.74 for 30 packets).

Hope this makes sense, coz I seem to have this knack of confusing everyone, inc myself :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Ah that's what I do too - good idea tho Jake's mum as I have marked mine red when they are all used up, but was thinking that if I delete them then my column with the figures in them (I use excel) wouldn't work as the format would be messed up - shall have a play around with it and see what happens. Glad to know that I am on the right track tho :T
I don't actually delete the used items I cross them out so the figures still work :)

If someone referrs you to DR, they email a code for free delivery and the person who refers you can get a free gift.

    Some items have free delivery.

Or there is a Facebook code for free delivery which is FB003.

When you receive your 1st delivery, they also send you a code for free delivery and 20% off your next order....but I dont know if that works with offers.

I would only buy offers, never full price.

Going to place my 2nd order in the next few days so I can let peeps know if the 20% comes off! :D
  • Mothership - can I just ask please when you place your orders with DR over different months, do they debit your credit card all at once or do you pay for them once they are despatched? Many thanks
