    I have ;).

Its a while ago, but I can recall Key West as being very gay, with not a great deal to do ! Watching the sun go down at the end of the day seemed to be the highlight. If you are going to do that, get there early, as it gets busy.

Its a long way to Key West, other than flying, I can't think how you would get there without a car (I can't recall seeing any public long distance buses).

    A boat :D......

International Drive in Orlando has the i-drive, and we walked sometimes despite having a car.
You could probably do a week of that, but might want to branch out more if longer.
I'm not sure about transport to Disney parks, but it seems a bit of a lost opportunity to go to Orlando and not do Disney.
I'm not sure about transport to Universal either.
Perhaps you could just hire a car on odd days if you wanted an excursion.

Been to both, not the same year though. You could get away with no car is residing at Daytona Beach, but I think, without a car, it get boring, plus you can take car on to beach, you have to if there!!

Key West is brilliant, only did 2 nights there, again, could get boring without a car, I guess it all depends on what you want to do. We have covered a fair area of Florida, each large town, Atlantic or Gulf side, have their own interesting pieces of history and, character. For example, Tarpon Springs, like being in Greece. Ocala, crystal clear waters coming from aqauifer.

    Regards...........

First time we went :thought I could do Orlando without a car... hotel grounds were so big we needed a car to get to the reception! Also some of these nicer places are a bit further away.

Had a car each time since- even when on a main drag.

Did Miami ( pre cruise) for a few day without a car - that was acceptable although would have been better with a car - but avoided the silly parking charges

we did Orlando without a car and it was fine, we stayed on International Drive and found getting around easy

Most hotels offer free transport to some of the parks, if you stay on International Drive it is easier to get to Universal and Sea world on the Lynx buses so look for one that offers Disney.

We sometimes got the free bus to Disney and paid for a taxi home, that wasnt very expensive and saved the hassle of driving around

We got the bus to the Florida Mall and it went through some very iffy areas, wouldnt want to be driving around there and end up lost either, got a taxi back and again it didnt cost very much money

I couldn't disagree more with you. There's absolutely shed loads of things to do in Florida (especially if you ahve a car and aren't restricted to I-Drive) without filling Uncle walts coffers !

Spot on Murphy! Although I love the parks, once we had done them to death and saw more of Florida we realised what a missed opportunity it is for people who never see more than Kissimmee. Whilst Clearwater, Miami, Ft Lauderdale and the high rise resorts are not our thing, we have had fantastic trips staying in St Augustine, Cedar Key, Anna Maria Island, Sanibel etc and are having another Florida trip in May/June, this time for daughter's wedding on Anna Maria Island.

Do the parks all by all means, you will have a great time, but if you get to go back consider a look around- you could be surprised!
