Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of having a holiday in Florida WITHOUT a car?
Is it possible and are their any specific tour operators that specialise?
many thanks

You can in South Beach, Miami, book a hotel in the Art Deco district within walking distance of the beach, shops and restaurants. No car needed.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I have as we were under 21 at the time so renting a car ranged from impossible to crazy prices

We did it by staying in a hotel/motel that had free transport to the Disney Parks, like WDW and Animal Kingdom and another bus that was free to Sea World and another one did Universal. It was slightly irritating as the bus only came once a day, and once we missed it, but a nice American couple took pity on us and gave us a lift. Then once you go to Disney you could use the disney transport to get to say Epcot etc. There is also the trolley on international drive, we used that once.
We wanted to go shopping one day, so took the free bus to Sea World and then got a taxi from there to the mall which was close to that, and did the same on the way home and also went on the trolley. Was a bit of a pain but was doable.
We also made sure our hotel was near restaurants we could walk to. I wont lie though we ate about 4 times in a Ihop :rotfl: What can I say we like pancakes and was right next to the hotel!
So yes its totally doable, but you need to make sure your hotel runs free buses to the parks as you wont want to pay for taxis everywhere, far too expensive.0 -
Great thanks.
Anyone done Orlando with no car?
we did orlando 2004 without car but that staying top end of int drive because we didnt do disney
it was perfect for universal,wet/wild/sea world etc pleanty of trams running up and down int drive and free bus to busch gardens
if you want to include disney or are staying south end of int drive you will need a car0 -
Most resorts/hotels run shuttle services and there is the lynx buses, but for most's villas stay's you will need a car0

As richardw says, have a look on the Orlando thread.
This subject comes up every few pages and has been covered dozens (if not hundreds) of times on there.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -

It all depends on what the Op wants to do.
If he/she wants to stay in on place and fill the coffers of Uncle Walt et al, then its doable.
If he/she wants to get put and about in Florida ( a place the size of England) and do stuff, then a car is essential.0
