Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2oth January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
TFI Friday, busy at work this week, I used 12 boxes of paper in 2 days, 5 reams to a box, 500 sheets to a ream, another forest bites the dust.
DW is on, hubby will empy it when he gets up, I'll put the WM on when I get home ready to hang out in the morning.
I'm babysitting for the foster children next week, which will be nice as I haven't seen then for a couple of weeks. DD is going out with DS so he will drive me there & back as I can't see to drive in the dark & it's all unlit roads.
Time I set off for work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning Hester and All Who Follow x
I hope you have all had a good week. Mine has been very quiet with not so much OS. Mainly feeding the washing machine. I have great plans but minimal energy.
I have my osteopathy today, which is working miracles:T:T:T
Hugs to those who are struggling or sad xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning,
Well my Eliza is now a week old, my how time flys. Her jaundice is clearing up, and she's setting herself a pattern already and is asleep by 10pm, up at 1am for a quick feed. Then 4am for a big feed. I'm getting 5-6 hours so am pleased. Yesterday I sorted paperwork (child benefits etc) and will register her birth tomorrow. I also started her baby book, because I didn't with DS and forgot half the information when I did do it later.
Today I need to do more washing, make pizza dough for dinner and put on more bread. Eliza needs a bath, and has visitors this afternoon, then I have the school run
Dinner tonight is HM Granary Pepperoni and Onion Pizza.
Hope everyone has a good day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Morning all,
Full of cold here, sneezing continually and sore throat etc, so I am staying off today, and trying to beat it, have done nothing but sleep for the last 2 days.
Need to take dd to the station this morning, then come home, will potter a bit but mainly rest.
Dinner tonight will be smoked sausage and pasta, dd or OH will cook it. If I have the energy I will put the hoover round and do a wash, but dont hold your breath.
Lame W we have my sisters dog staying for the week (she is little dogs mum) but they both want to be top dog, they had a blazing fight the other night, the only way to stop them is to put my boot in between them, Little dog;'s nose is very out of joint this week
Mix M, take care hun xx

Morning all,
I haven't been here for nearly a week so forgive me for not being up to date with all of your posts. I've been busy painting DD's sitting and dining room, also having DGD 2 stay over and doing the nursery school runs. I made a start on our Tax returns y/day and hope to get it finished today and submit online.
Lots of HM dinners in the freezer and all ironing done. I bought 4 huge duck crowns from Mr S for £6 each I weighed them and they were about 1lb 14ozs each, I took the breasts off vacume sealed and froze. I removed the skin and cooked on a rack so have lovely duck crackling Cooked the carcases and made loads of duck in Hoi Sin sauce, boiled the bones and have loads of meat to make some duck pate. Strained the rest and have 2 pts of stock, absolutely nothing wasted.
None OS.
I went to the Dr last night and had the results from the biopsies of the 3 lumps removed. They were Benign, negative, all clear. DH and I felt such relief to say the least. :j:j:j:j We can now let our family know what has been happening as we haven't told anyone about my health probs.
The only thing I'm waiting for now is an MRI scan on my kidney to find out what the black patch is.
I want to thank everyone on here for keeping me upbeat and possitive due to your caring kindness and possitive vibes you are all :A:A

Morning everyone,
That is wonderful news Beth, you must be really relieved.
Haven't been on for a couple of days as work has been really busy, we had a parents evening last night and it completely wore me out. At least this weekend is netball free and I can have a lie in tomorrow!
Don't really feel like work today but there are children waiting for me and I am sure that I will brighten up when I get there.
Hugs to all in need.
Lou, we are all here for you.
LW, hope the pain eases.
A big hug for Eliza!:D
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Funeral went really well. Standing room only and people outside unable to get in. \he was a really loved man.:A
BB Glad tests were okay.
Have DGD this evening for tomorrow. Haven't seen her all week.:T
Roast beef left over from Christmas tonight.
OH keeps on at me to go to the Dr about gyne problem. Couldn't have my op in September as blood pressure was too high, and they have been trying to get it down ever since with no progress. I need to ask if I could have it done under local instead.
JG You are obviously a relaxed mum if Eliza has gone into a routine already! Well done!:T
(((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) if you need it.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning :hello:
My list making is working wonders, I'm getting so much done.
My 'almost' job is in sheltered accommodation, doing a bit of everything from cleaning people's flats to working in the kitchen. ATM 75% of the flats have been sold. They've got enough staff day-to-day but need someone to cover holidays/sickness. I've been chatting to someone who works there, here's the gist of it (hope I understood her properly) - The job is pretty much mine, it all depends on whether the manager likes meIt's quite a close-knit team so everyone has to get along well. As more flats sell, the job will become permanent - 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day monday to friday. Either 9am-noon or 2pm-5pm. I expect I'll have the afternoons, I think they let existing staff choose available shifts and newbies get the leftovers
There will be NO abandoning ship. Full-time pirate here, with a few hours off each week
Mr tru is off work today, so I won't get anything done, lol.Bulletproof0 -
Morning all
Not been for a while, so missed all the news (congrats to JG on Eliza's arrival, betheebee so glad the news was good) - congrats/hugs/prayers to whoever's in need!
Stress city here with all sorts of problems with the grownup DS & DD - all money related, some very serious. DH & I cross with them both, DS in particular been burying his head in the sand - both continue to expect us to bail them out, but we've had enough now as they're not changing what they do to get out of their situations!
OS today - not going into town, so no spending temptations! Doing thorough food stocktake this morning and meal plans prior to doing SM shop tonight. Tons of washing/ironing to do, paid-for sewing to crack on with, kids' clothes to sort ready for CS or selling.
Have a good day, everyone, see you later.
