looking for an upgrade to my pc:
Monitor & keyboard under a year old, towever is now 6 years old.
was looking at this on a take 3 option:

Can anyone have a look & see what you think please dont want to shell out hundreds & realise I have made a mistake. I know dells are good but I cant really afford the cost of one.
So opinions & help will be greatly appriciated before I take the plunge, or of course if these deals are really awful please feel free to point me in the right direction !!

More specifically, if you want it to last and be a better performer going forward, always choose the best cpu/mainboard you can afford, as all the other bits can be upgraded going forward without too much pain, Hence #2 is best (i3 cpu), but for the price I think you should be able to do better elsewhere.
Another tip, I would try and get something with 4 Dimm (RAM) slots so that you can upgrade going fwd, without the need to chuck out what you already have, but then again if you see a really good deal this could be sacrificed.
Others may wish to point you to better specific deals that might be available?0 -

The first thing you need to ask yourself is what you actually use a computer for at the moment, and are you likely to need an all singing and dancing one that is capable of much more than you really need. There's no point in spending a fortune if you just use it for emails, web browsing, Facebook and so on.
The links you sent are from Very so their prices will be higher than other online suppliers. If you are not looking for credit terms and would rather pay cash then you could do better.
There is the third option, and that if your current computer is a bit slow then there are people on here to help you make it go quicker! Therefore saving lots of money!0 -

As a general rule a tower PC should be able to last more than 6 years - cleaning it up - see the sticky above about speeding up a PC - and probably a RAM upgrade will rejuvenate an old PC for just a few quid - and give it some more useful life.0 -
I bought a new PC tower from http://www.arbico.co.uk/ about a year ago - has been great since. Might be worth a look?
They were also very helpful/responsive on a couple of things I needed to check with them early on, unlike the now defunct lot at Mesh that I went with previously.0 -
as said already unless you need the finance options then Very is usualy very expensive for things like this
if you dont mind going 'refurb' http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEDION-P3-DESKTOP-TOWER-REFURB-/350524576961?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item519ce494c1 is reasonable, basicall ythe same spec as option 2 you have put up but £285 instead of £350Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I guess the OP wishes to spread the payments over three months, but then is unfortunately limited as to the products she can purchase.
Perhaps refurb your existing PC. Six years is not that old and can often be restored to better than new performance for little or no cost.
Then save up for a new PC.
This MEDION® AKOYA® E4028 D (MD7332) is fitted with a first Gen i3 for £255.95 delivered.0 -
ok great info coming through:
my system is packard bell xp3000- + 2.16ghz 1.43GB of ram
I download stuff, use photoshop , stores lots of photos, videos internet etc. dont really do any gaming.
So what do you suggest my hard drive is full most of the time.
I have avg tune up which helps keep the files in check & the speed up, so would a ram upgrade really make any differnce ??***avid money saver***0 -
ram upgrade would depend on what your current Operating System is if its XP adding extra ram wont make that much of a difference,
xp home/pro 32bit version can only see 3gb max, if it where the x64 version then you could go higher.
I would clean off the hard drive, either by burning the files to dvd or by getting another hard drive, prices though pretty much doubled on them at the moment. waiting to get a 2tb external myself for £75-80 but currently there around £130,
for a real speed increase you could change your motherboard / processor and memory and go for a 6 core for £206, like the one i'm thinking of getting.
heres a quad core for £190 http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/motherboardbundles/mbb-44104g.html comes with onboard graphics so no need to get another card.
4 times faster.
or the six core for £205 http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/motherboardbundles/mbb-61004a.htmlalso onboard graphics.
pretty much 6x3.3ghz, so this would be 6times faster than you current.
and frankly wouldnt/shouldnt need upgrading for more than 6years.
wish i could just make up my mind which one to go for.0 -
to be honest I dont think its worth spending more than a few quid on a system as old as mine, if I get another motherboard surly I may as well just bite the bullet get a new pc & keep this one as a back up.
I do store loads on disc, but to be honest its a dam pain to look through them when I need something.
The very take 3 is interest free which is why I was intersted, if a machine was outstanding & at a good price I would stump up the cash though.
Its such a confusing market & to get impartial advice is impossible. so cant thank you all enough for your ideas.***avid money saver***0
