Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

We like Aldi's peeled plum tomatoes (Harvest? in a nice thick sauce not watery), Corale baked beans and spaghetti both ok, Pantry nuts (whole almonds are good value and really nice at £1.49 for 200g), Belmont Ginger Nuts biscuits, DairyFine Mint Creme chocolate and Moser Roth orange or mint chocolate (five individually wrapped bars handy), Abbott & Broome hand wash, and their lovely fruit and veg.
Someone recommended their Diplomat Gold Label tea, 80 bags for 1.39, and we tried this for the first time this week - love a nice strong cuppa and drink loads - so pleased with it, can't tell it from the Tetley Strong bags we were just finishing.
Lidl we used to love the Linessa low sugar jams but can't get them any more, and Goody luxury muesli is delish too.0 -
Aldi - our kids really like the tinned ravoli - it is packed to the top and not too much sauce and really meaty too. Great value at only 35p a tin. I buy them 12 at a time.
I also think the fresh mushrooms family pack is great value as are the bags of seasonal salad. Plus of course the super six deals!
Lidl - well I buy loads from there all the time. Not found much I don't like apart from the caramel chocolate cake biscuit things - yuk!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I love lidl's Mozzarella and Pesto Pizza (2 for £1.99) and their milk chocolate (blue packet 100g) 35p is delicious. Their chocolate seashells seriously rival Guylian. Also try the French Brie at 94p, really good. Finally their Chillean Merlot is fab at £3.89, one of my favourite wines now.0

Bought Lasagne from Aldi yesterday and must say I like the Lidl one but Aldi one was far better, the cheese sauce was lovely and no grissly bits in the mince. Will defo be doing more shopping in Aldi :j0

If you like really "hot with chillis" pizza try Lidl's Inferno one. It really does live up to it's name.0

I can second that, my nan bought it & it was quite yummy!
I can also recommend Aldi Chilli Con Carne sauce. I'm quite a big chilli fan but the boyfriend isn't, he doesn't like too many beans & doesn't like it spicy so after trying several sauces and him not liking it, I thought that's chilli gone for a meal choiceAnyway... yesterday, I decided to try the Aldi one for 65p and yummmmm!
It had fewer beans than I would prefer but I can always add some to mine and not the fellas and for once, he liked it! He said it wasn't too spicy, a mild kick but really tasty! Woohoo, chilli is on the menu!
Aldi Blackcurrant High Juice is lovely too, really nice and it's NAS which is a bonus! I think it's £1.10 so can't moan.
Aldi juicy water cartons are lovely, not strong and not weak. I've had both flavours & really liked them. My sister, who doesn't drink juice as she finds it too strong, agrees and buys this regularly. They do orange & pineapple and apple & blackcurrant.
Aldi sparkling flavoured water is nice, no different to any brands or supermarkets and it's a snip at about 30p. Low calorie too!
I DON'T like their hot chocolate in the jar though, it's not nice at all. Might be okay if you added cocoa but it's too sweet and lacking in the chocolate.
Aldi Fig rolls are a steal at 35p, regularly buy these as me and the bf love them.
Aldi Tomato pur!e is about 33p and always comes in handy.
Aldi Fairtrade tea is about £1.29 for 80 bags at the moment and I really like it, I like a strong brew and this delivers!
I'll have a raid through my cupboards later and see what other Aldi treasures I can find. Can you tell I love Aldi? :rotfl:0 -
love the aldi tiramisu. after the costco tiramisu, this was the next one we love! must also say that the lidl crisps (crusti croc) tasted much better than the normal brands. seemed fresher.0

I have a major sweet tooth so I've found out that alot of Aldi's chocolate bars are really nice. There is one which is milk chocolate with almonds and thats my all time fave choccie bar now and its a brilliant price at 99p (quite a big size aswell so extra yummie). Their sweets are a major bargin 23p for a bag of toffees !! hehe and so much better than the white label ones from other supermarkets.
Cheese and milk is good value too also their frozen pizzas are great for a quick meal for the family, especially the box of 3 pizzas for £2.69 (very yum yum).
All my kids love aldi's bake beans, taste and look great.
I know its not food but thought I'd mention it, that aldis hair and beauty products are quite fab too. The aldi version of frizz ease is great and the make-up is good too and great on price0 -
Ours doesnt seem to have make up and it doesn't have bread flour either - I keep reading on MSE that its the cheapest place to get bread flour - but I asked the manager and he says might just be in England cos he hasnt seen it up here0

I'm in Scotland too and we don't seem to have bread flour in our A*di either. L*dl do have it though, but it's still slightly cheaper in A*da0
