I do my main shop in Aldi - but every couple of months toddle off to Tesco to 'stock up' on the items I simply cannot get in Aldi!
I endorse what others say - pop into Aldi or Lidl and try a few things, I bet you will find more and more items to your liking. be prepared to split your shop between two stores.........be open minded and not 'brand loyal' and you may be pleasantly surprised!
be prepared for the staff to put your purchases through the checkout at the speed of light though! dont try to bag them just pile them back into the trolley and bag at the shelf provided!

Their garlic bread (c37p) is very nice - about half the price of supermarkets' own

I can recommend Aldi 99p Pesto, very nice. Maybe not Sacla quality, but certainly as good as other supermarket's own branded stuff.

The 79p stuff looks a bit... sandy. But, I must admit I have not tried them yet. Can't help but taste with my eyes when looking at them.

Has anyone tried Aldi's Appleby Chicken Breasts stuffed with caramelised red onion and mozzarella wrapped in black forest ham? They have ones with spinach and ricotta as well.

Has anyone tried the Aldi version of Coco Pops?

I used to buy Coco Pops for my daughter then bought Tesco Choco Snaps as they were cheaper, she now prefers the Tesco ones to the proper ones!

I am gradually trying different things from Aldi and was wondering if their version is worth buying.

    Ta.

    ;)

Lidl's Ginger Biscuits are the nicest I have ever had, and only 39p for a big packet.
I also think that their pastries are nice and very good value.
Their chocolate digestives on the other hand should be avoided.

Thanks I will try the ginger biscuits.
Which chocolate digestives did you try? We haven't had the milk, but OH really likes the plain chocolate ones:)

Also the creme fraiche (Lidl, we don't have an Aldi either) is only 49p a pot and just as nice as those for twice as much.

Bought a bag of the tortillas from Aldi for 69p i think and they were quite nice, prefer them to Sainsburys own brand.

The pink wafers are just the same as the ones you get frm the multiples.

Well, I was persuaded to buy some Aldi 'Choco Rice' ie Coco Pops today.

They were 99p a box, crispier than the Tesco ones but not as dark so not as much cocoa powder on them.

I suppose the test will be how chocolatey the milk will be when they get tested in the morning. :D
  • I do my weekly shop at ALDI, absolutely love it - save so much money compared to my old shopping at ASDA/Tesco. That being said I do nip to either once and again to get certain things/things that are cheaper on offer than the ALDI version as the stores by me are right next each other. I always keep my eye on MySupermarket and also have ALDI newsletters, and Special Buys info emailed to me weekly.

The only thing I don't like from ALDI is their mushy peas, but I just stopped eating them and switched back to marrowfat.
