I am meant to be going to choose some specs today and my mother has conveniently 'forgotten' and made other arrangements.. I had to really psych myself up to go for the eye test anyway because I hate people touching me or breathing on me.. and I've now de-psyched so probably won't be going at all to choose any.. waste of the eye test money but hey ho.. I can't really afford to buy specs anyway, and I definitely don't want them.

Have you considered buying them online. I got my last pair of glasses from glassesdirect and they're great, plus a lot cheaper than buying in the shops.

Thank goodness Moggins is ok :T Think you need to take it easy though - why do families fail to do anything when you're ill unless you throw a gigantic strop?

Pigpen - when we had the conservatory done there was SO much dust I just wanted to cry. Can't believe I'm gonna say this but don't even bother cleaning until the work is finished. Just keep the place 'tidy' and keep on top of the washing /[STRIKE] ironing[/STRIKE] (remembered you don't do ironing!).

Ladygrim - think Pigpen could do with one of your jokes to cheer her up and the rest of us need to buy her a stiff drink :D

Have tidied up the house and hoovered. Am currently avoiding doing email, paperwork and filing...

I have just found this thread - just what I needed - yesterday I had an almighty row with my OH over housework after a ridiculously loved up week (that'll be valentines day). I hope no-one else thinks this is stupid, but the sequence of events went something like this: After tidying the coffee table of all the weeks bits of papers etc... I went to print something on the computer, while there, I noticed loads of fluff (laminate floorings curse) all down the side of the computer table, urgh. Went into bedroom to get ready for night out, picked up OH's pants and socks from side of bed (again), noticed his side of the bed is still overflowing with stuff despite promising now for the best part of three weeks to sort it out. This includes a broken piece of electrical equipment he got his father for christmas which he still hasn't taken back even though it never worked, 3 guitars, empty carrier bags from shopping with empty bottles, crisp packets, empty boxes from purchases which have been there for over a month! Washing basket was over flowing. He'd helpfully said earlier in the morning that he would change the bed covers but all he'd done was strip it which considering we were planning on going out meant we'd be putting the covers on at 2 or 3 in the morning. I went to the loo after he'd had a shower and because he hadn't shut the lid of the toilet I got one very soaked behind (probably more than you needed to know but hey) and when I said I couldn't find my black trousers and asked if he'd done any washing at all that week (unlikely) he answered 'only my own clothes'... That was it SNAP!!!!

So - I had it out, just tidying up after yourself after you cook is not enough to keep the house nice, tidy and organised I explained. Leaving jobs half done is equally frustrating. Now I feel like a complete mad woman and know that I have really hurt his feelings by calling him lazy. Rubbish

I struggle to keep this tiny one bedroom flat properly spick and span but now I've found this little plan I am going to do my best to keep up.

    So far today:

    [STRIKE]made bed[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]one load of washing[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Tidied the airing cupboard[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Cleared clothes from bedroom floor[/STRIKE]

Got lots of other stuff to do but losing the will to live .... :p

There is not a woman alive today who won't crack up over this!

A friend of mine was due for an appointment with the gynaecologist later in the week. Early one morning, she received a call from the doctor's office to tell her that she had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am.

She had only just packed everyone off to school, and it was already around 8:45 am, and as the trip to his office took about 35 minutes, she didn't have any time to spare.

As most women do, she likes to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time she wasn't going to be able to make the 'full' effort. So, she rushed upstairs, threw off her pyjamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave herself a quick wash in 'that area' to make sure she was at least presentable.

The she threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to the appointment. She was only in the waiting room for a few minutes when she was called in.

Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure many of you do, she hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that she was in Paris, or some other place, a million miles away.

Things went fine but she was, however, a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?" But she didn't respond...

After the appointment, she heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was as normal. Some shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc.

After school when her 6 year old daughter was back home and playing, she called out from the bathroom, "Mommy, where's my washcloth?"

She couldnt remember so she told her to get another one from the cupboard.

Where upon the daughter duly replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it."

    :o

I can completely relate to you Reformed. My OH is the same, and we live in a small flat too. Only his junk is all over the house - the biggest room in the flat is now the smallest in terms of being able to move around it and use it properly, due to all of the things he has from various house clearances (not his own) which he has had for over 7 years! When we first started going out, I didn't live with him, and he made an effort to keep the place tidy for when I came to stay - now he doesn't bother!
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I just can't understand how hard it can be to notice an empty carrier bag that you used a week ago should be put away - I'm not a total stickler - I don't mind it being around for a couple of days but months?! I am lucky in that usually I come back from work (he doesn't work) and on the face of it it is tidy but the fact we need to keep it clean on top of that has totally eluded him. When I insisted last Sunday that we were cleaning the fridge together he reluctantly agreed but I could see he thought it was a waste of time. ARGH!!!!

As part of his argument yesterday he said the washing basket and the ironing pile were like a filing system - there wasn't really enough space for everything so we HAVE to keep dirty clothes in the basket. I've been clearing through everything for ebay and I just think that if he was to put stuff away he would see there is space for it all...

Ah well - I have resigned myself to the day in to make everything a little more presentable.

    Hiya everyone
Hope you're feeling a little better Moggins.

I've done quite a lot today:
    - tidied dining room
    - tidied living room
    - hoovered stairs
    - hoovered all downstairs
    - tidied kitchen
    - used attachement to help get rid of animal hairs for dyson (only had it several years but decided to give it a try today!)
    - made lunch from leftovers in freezer
    - spend couple of hours tidying garden
    - made poster for work

It's amazing how focused I can be when I'm trying to avoid writing an essay!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend, really nice weather here xx
