Quite honestly, the phone was factory reset, (again) and put it back in the box immediately - I didn't even get the chance to check IMEI etc...

The upshot is that they have recognised their monumental screw up and they are now cash settling - after they get the phone back which will be next Tuesday. I have also pressed for redress due to having to put up with all of this. They have agreed to this - amount to be confirmed as it'll take into account total time and inconvenience.

I guess that once this is all put to bed, the moral of the story is to not accept mediocrity, document every step of the process, and expect the worst, because when it comes to phone insurance companies, it seems like the norm.

I'll post with an update once I know more. In the meantime, I don't have a single handset in which my tiny sim will fit - le sigh...
