  • I have cover with Orange for £6 a month. Ive used it on a couple of occasions with no problems, have phoned them up, given details of the fault on my phone and a new replacement handset has been couriered out within 24 hours. Ive been told about the admin fee, which they now call an excess, but so far have never actually been charged it.

You can only guess if this a genuine error or a get out clause.
    Sneaky mobile phone insurance exclusion?
I am surprised that Insure&Go (= notorious Citymain) has been recommended by Martin in the last e-mail.

Not only was it recommended as 'Best buy', but it was recommended as the one that does cover theft. In fact they typically cover only burglary and robbery, not theft.

Before your claim can be approved, you must pay the stated excess fee.
This sounds like you have to pay them £50 even for rejecting your claim.

What's wrong with this if it's the special and even official thread on this topic where all information is conveniently collected in one place?

If it's out of date you are welcome to contribute corrections/amendments.

I dropped my Nexus 5, resulting in the screen smashing and the surround ruined. Lifestyle Services Group accepted my claim immediately. That's where the good news ends.

Initially, I was told that I'd have the phone within 3 working days. This was revised to "3 working days for the repair, 3 working days to post". This was further revised to "5 working days for the repair, 3 working days to post". This was revised yet again back to "Sorry, 3 working days to repair and 3 working days to post". It is like they just make stuff up as they go.

Then the repair finally happens and I get the phone back 1 week later. So far so good. The phone actually looked like new.

However, the phone has been returned to my with a fault - NFC simply does not exist on the phone. When I called them, they tried to tell me that it was a software fault(!!!) (This is on a phone they JUST repaired). After much arguing and logging of complaints, they now want the phone back to "try to fix it".

A truly terrible experience, and it is not over yet.

Re lifestyle services my father lost his 3GS and tried to claim, it was bought second hand and because he can't supply an invoice to state who and where it was bought from ( only hand written note from seller) and he only used any payg sims that were offering deals with airtime they won't complete the claim so had to cancel the claim last night and delete the phone from his account

    Just another update:

The phone has come back a 2nd time and while the NFC works (Well, it now charges on the Qi pad). Although the phone was returned to me absolutely spotless the first time around, this time, it has been returned to me with a deep scratch on the back and dirt ingrained into the surround of the camera. It is also obvious that they have not used the proper sim ejection tool as the hole has been damaged for that too. I have also noticed that the screen is not properly aligned.

The phone is already back in its box to go back to LSG. It doesn't matter whether the rest of the phone 'functions'.

Back on the phone to LSG....
