Of course it's not really free - they're increasing the monthly charges by £2.70 for me with only broadband and phone. Increase in April, broadband "free" speed upgrade about October. So pay now and get it later. Cost of phone calls is going up too.
And they switched me from M broadband to L when they replaced the old modem which had died with a new Superhub. Extra £4.50 a month. When I pointed out to them that I hadn't requested an upgrade, but their equipment had failed, they said they can't put me back to M as the smallest option they offer now is L. So it goes L, XL and XXL. What's next - FL??
They did agree to credit me the £4.50 every month to offset the extra cost for switching me from the now non-existent M to L, which is still 10Mb.

Surprise, surprise, just got a letter today about price inreases in April.
My package is increasing by £3.50/month.

I don't need an upgrade, the speed I have is sufficient.

VM is cynical in preparing the way with glossy advertsing just about speed upgrade just before price increase for something many people don't want or need.

Virgin Media sucks for a lot of people. Fact. There are over 50,000 posts on the Virgin Forum from customers complaining about the service they receive - and I'm one of them.

I have given myself high blood pressure talking to technical support (there's a misnomer!) and I'm at the end of my tether. Enough is enough so I decided to do something a bit more pro-active today. I searched around for any info I could find regarding Virgin Media management. With the names I found, I put together an email to Watchdog and decided to share the fruits of my detective work with others on the Virgin Forum. Many, many people have posted requests for a Virgin Complaints email address. As there is no such thing I thought I'd help out.

My email to Watchdog and CC'd to Virgin management was as follows:
"Have you also spent hours looking for a valid email address for VirginMedia so that you can complain about your shockingly poor service? Had any luck? Or do you just get directed to their 'contact' form. That's fun isn't it? Half the time it doesn't work and the other half your complaint just gets ignored.
Anyway, today I decided to write to Watchdog about this bunch of clowns and, while my fingers are crossed that something comes of it, I decided to find as many email addresses as I could in 30 minutes which seemed to have anything to do with VirginMedia so I could CC them into my email.
This I did, then I waited a while to see how many of these bounced back as undelivered etc. Those I have now discounted but some definitely seemed to have gotten through to someone somewhere.
So, who knows? Maybe someone will take notice if enough of us write and complain?
I read someone else's post on here and they ascertained that the Virgin naming convention for emails is forename.surname@virginmedia.co.uk so that's how I went about it.
My email to watchdog (watchdog@bbc.co.uk) was CC'd to the following people
neil berkett
eamonn o'hare
martin mcfadyen
andrew barron
richard wheeler
robert gale
as well as
ecomplaints@virginmedia.co.uk
webteam@virginmedia.co.uk
national_webteam@virginmedia.co.uk
So, if like me you're fed up with dealing with non-entities, why not give these numpteys a try?
It can't hurt!"

Well I thought I was being helpful by doing this but all that it accomplished was to get me banned from the Virgin forum for 48 hours!! Obviously Virgin moderators get a bit uppity with people who try to assist others.

Hopefully MSE won't edit this post or delete it and some Virgin Media customers will find this helpful.

Regards,
Tony
