Sun £9.50 Holidays - very costly upgrades!

My husband and I and our 3 month old daughter are going to Devon cliffs haven caravan site on 8th October and we want to upgrade to a platinum caravan so as we will have heaters in the bedroom and bathroom to ensure that our little one won't be cold at night. However, when I rang the haven site this morning, she said the highest we could upgrade to when booking via a sun newspaper promotion is a delux plus. We really want to have the highest standard available, and was wondering if anyone else had been to haven via the sun's promotion and whether you had been able to upgrade higher than delux plus?0

If you had booked through an owner of a caravan you could have got it much cheaper than a Sun holiday. My weeks holidays start at £189 which includes a silver plus 6 berth caravan and all the heating and electric.0

I think its always been difficult to add the totals up when booking a £9.50 holiday often a few hundred when inc all entertainment passes bedding electric. Often things that should be included. IMO:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Nope, our limit for upgrade was to Deluxe Plus which I did shortly after booking.
However, the site staff suggested that they put a note on our booking to say that we are willing to upgrade to Prestige on arrival if that can be arranged. So perhaps 'on arrival' upgrades are allowed?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Thanks for the response - that sounds like a good idea. I'll give them a call when we receive our confirmation, and ask if they can make a note that we would like to upgrade to platinum upon arrival if possible. Fingers crossed...:)0

Take a small heater. Take a hairdryer to warm the bed. Or an electric blanket. Take a small reading lamp. The electric's free. No need to freeze.
The higher grade in my opinion just lines the pockets of Haven. The standard ones are ok for the short time there. and they are always clean and comfy, with the basic necessities that you need, in my opinion.
Our holiday is costing us approx £78 for 4 days. Not bad eh ?
Haven intend to make extra money out of gullible people. Dont fall into that trap.0 -
