we went to haggerston castle at end of october and it was freezing. we took a portable heater, hot water bottles and extra blankets for the kids. it was very cold but we managed fine and didnt find ourselves too cold even tho one morning the baby monitor said it was 11 degrees in kids bedroom.
  • Hi, this is my fist sun holiday so im still waiting to find out if/where we'll be going. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded with either park resorts or park dean. Ive picked eyemouth, auchenlarie, sundrum, barmston beach and skipsea sands.

All the ones i've picked cant be upgraded with the sun but I'm hoping to upgrade as 1) I have a young baby so would want heating and 2) my husband is very allergic to dogs so on the sites where they accept them in their standard caravans there is a good chance he'll have a reaction.

Has anybody on here ever upgraded before or upon arrival at these parks?
What is generally the cheepest way of doing it?

    Thanks in advance :)

hi i have received my booking confirmation this morning asking me to pay remainder of balance within 3 weeks. This includes entertainment passes and linen hire which i dont want. Reading it, there is no option not to take this.
Can i just send the portion for the service charge.? When i have done breaks before anthing extra we wanted was paid for on day of arrival.
    thanks.

I'm going to Bideford Bay, Park Resorts and had to pay the balance this morning.

They were broken down as follows:

    Standard Accom Charge (per person)
    £38.00

    Additional items

4 x Optional Entertainment Passes (per person)
    £20.00
4 x Optional Linen & Bed Making Charge (per person)
    £48.00
3 x Service Charge (per night)
    £18.75
    Total Holiday Cost:
    £124.75
    Amount paid:
    £124.75

Just looked at it and realised that they want £48 for linen so just rang to take that off - thought they were going to be funny but they did refund it - I'm quite happy taking my own bedding for that price!

bumped this thread as I think its applicable now that Sun holidays are on the agenda again.

We have booked 4 days in Marton Mere, nr Blackpool in September, and just got the invoice/ The bedding for 4 is only £14.00. But we are taking our own ( most do ) as the sheets are cotton and not very cosy. ( Also, there aren't four of us, only two, but I put four down because I thought they would then give us a larger caravan

They say we can upgrade. The Luxury ( newer caravan) would be an extra £32 altogether. The Luxury Plus (20% more space ) would be £48 extra. ThePremier Plus ( more 'stylish' furniture, 20% wider, heating in the bedrooms, earlier check in ( from 3 pm ) - and if you purchase the bedding, the beds will be made up - Extra £80 altogether.

Then there is a 'Standard Plus' - where pets are welcome ( ? ) isnt this the same as the 'Standard' anyway ??

And, ' Add a third bedroom' for only £15 ( it says )

Well, do you know what we'll choose ? Yes. The 'Standard' After all, its a cheap break. We only need it for sleeping, as our base to go out each day and night.

Think it's a rip-off if you choose to ' upgrade' Like someone said, they dont know their asimov from their elgar.

What do you all think ?

We just got back from Ruda (Parkdean) last weekend and it was pretty fab. The only gripe I had was when I wanted to guarantee a 3 bedroom as we had my MIL, partner and our two kids with us they wanted quite a bit more (can't remember price but over £100). Also wanted to extend from 4 nights to 6 and even a few days before they were charging £416 for 3 nights!! But it is a popular site for surfers so I guess they get the weekend crowds and don't need to drop prices too much.

However when we got there, we had already been allocated a 3 bedroom, the caravan was amazing (clean, very well equipped kitchen and looked really new). We had heating in the bedrooms, TV, DVD player, music centre, microwave etc.

In total we paid £157 for 4 adults and 2 kids (7 and 2yrs). We didn't need an entertainment pass for our youngest and to be honest didn't need them for 2 of the adults either so could have saved a bit more. We also didn't bother with their linen and would much prefer our own as know it's defintely going to be clean!

Glad you enjoyed your holiday alleycat, and that you had such a nice caravan.

Sometimes we have just left it as a 'standard', and not got the bedding or the passes. Of course, you HAVE to have the power charge , but even so, 4 days, for around £70 can't be bad, and it's just a base anyway, as we are just a couple, and go out and about alot.
