Help......tv picture is awful!

Hi everyone!

I have recently moved house and bought 2 new samsung tv's. Also had a new aerei put on the house.

The tv downstairs we are having sky installed on saturday so im not too bothered about this. But the tv upstairs has an awful signal and i can only watch bbc at the moment. The tv is mounted on the wall.

My question is, can i get an aerial booster which plugs into the back of the tv or does it need to be plugged into the aerial in the loft? This could be a problem as we have no power point in the loft.

Anyway i have no idea what im talking about so im hoping someone can help? :)

By BBC do you mean just one BBC channel or all of them?

Check the connection belling into the TV &,it might be a stupid question, but sometimes they are often overlooked, but is the aerial extension connected to the feed?

Your aerial should be on the roof, not in the loft. Doubtfull an aerial amplifier will do much good. A mast head amplifier is always preferable, but not as good as a properly specified external aerial.
Are you tuning in to analog or digital channels?

Then get whoever fitted the aerial back to fix his shoddy work.
  • Thanks for the replies!

Sorry the aeriel is on the roof haha, i told you i dont know what im talking about!

I spoke to my nextdoor neighbour who said he had the same problem with the terrible signal and had to get sky in all rooms in the end. Surely this cant be the only way forward though?

The guy who fitted the aeriel also said he had done all he could and that it was down to signal and that we may need a booster. I just dont understand how these booster things work!
  • Oh sorry and i can watch all of the bbc channels and im trying to get onto digital channels.

I can get on all channels but the picture is unwatchable.
  • I already have freeview built into the tv so i dont want another box, as the tv is mounted on the wall in the bedroom i would have nowhere to put the box. When i put my postcode into that it does say i should able to receive freeview.

i only gave the link to check tv signal in your area not to buy freeview box
  • Yep well it says i should be able to receive freeview. Think im going to get an aerial engineer to come and take a look.
