What do you usually cook a roast or a roast chicken in? Would that no do to partially fill with water to stand the meatloaf tin in?0

Mr BE, any container that is ovenproof and larger than the loaf-tin will do! Doesn't have to be as deep as the loaftin, just deep enough to hold an inch or two of water, you can top up if necessary. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Then try the other suggestion?
Do you have a grill at all?
Err...I have a hot red thing at the top of the oven, but nothing to put underneath it.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Ok....so it doesn't have to be metal then? I might have a ceramic dish of some sort that's big enough...just not especially deep.
Edit: Nope. Nuffink. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Perhaps you need to make an investment.......
One roasting tin - good for:
Water bath/bain marie/meat loafs
Roasting a chicken
Roasting vegetables - the best way to eat veg ever
Putting on the bottom of your oven to catch crumbs/drips from pizza etc - saves cleaning the oven and is a handy way to store the tin
And 1000 more uses the MES os'ers can come up with.
But for your current project, and without dipping further into your pocket, cook the meatloaf with a cake pan of water underneath and test for done - ness a bit before time"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
