It works with any internet provider. Bascially, you need to have a modem which has an ethernet port - not a usb one, as you need to plug this in.

By getting the router, you agree to have it plugged in for a year (although they can't really do much if you don't, they don't have your payment details)

Welcome to FON. This email was sent to you as a reminder for you to confirm your registration.
FON does not want to spam you, we just want to check that your email address is a valid one.

Please note that to become a Fonero, you need to convert your existing Internet connection into a FON Access Point.
When you confirm your registration, you will be redirected to https://www.fon.com where you will be able to purchase La Fonera, our FON Social Router, for €/$ 29.95 with shipping (taxes not included).

Once your FON Access Point is properly installed and registered, you will be able to share your WiFi with the rest of the FON Community and choose what you want, either free WiFi roaming worldwide or revenue generated by your FON Access Point.

is it an own fon barnd router? not one made by netgear or something that we could flash the router settings back to what it would be without fon and use it properly?

Just like the sky one it says netgear buy you cant change the settings. but when you flash the firmware it reverts back to the propper software on the normal netgear one.
Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time
