By normal router, I assume you mean an ADSL router with several ethernet ports. In short, you can't. Apart from power, the Fonera only has one connection, a single Ethernet port. You need to plug an Ethernet cable from that into your own equipment. The Fonera has no means of receiving an ADSL or cable signal. It is just a wireless router, ie routes wireless devices only.

By the way if anyone wants any Fon invites (the current offer is 20€ discount), please PM me. I have 2 left.

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone but I think that the Free Fon router offer is over.
To get one at the discounted price you need an invite from existing Fon users

I believe all Fon users can make 5 invites to this discount offer

I may have one or 2 to spare soon. I will announce them when I do.

I'm surwe in the meantime another Fon user in this forum may be able to help you if you ask

In case this helps anyone with the same problem as I had heres how I made good use of my Fon router.
I did mention this in another forum but that was ages ago so please read on.

I'm on a wired shared internet connection and have no phone line.
I badly needed a line for people to call me on and was looking into VIOP solutuins
Being a bit too hasty I signed up with Vonage who provided me with a Wifi handset and a phone number with an area code of my choice.
I then had the dilemma as to how to install it on my computer
I already had a FON so I went out and bought a wireless adapter for just £12.50
I unplugged the ethernet cable from my computer and plugged it into the FON instead
Then I set up my USB wireless router with my computer.

FON sends out 2 signals. One is called FON_AP and the other is MyPlace
The condition of using fon is that you provide a wireless hotspot. Dont worry, you share a little bandwith with your neighboures and any passers by but they cant get into your system
MyPlace is security protected and this is the one you use for your private connection.

I'm using Fon for both my computer and the Wifi handset and it works like a dream
The beauty of it is I can use my VOIP phone without having to have my computer on.

As I said earlier I acted hastily by choosing Vonage. I regret it now and may change now I know that there are better deals out there.

I can get a better wifi handset for less than £99 and a free phone number, connection and voicemail from sipgate and a call plan that has no binding contract beyond a month
