Mine came today but for the life of me I cant get it to connect.
We have BT router which was using the ethernet connection, uninstalled this and reinstalled using the USB connection, the ethernet now free to plug the Fonera in. However the BT router wont work on USB connection, just will not connect to the internet so either I am doing something obviously wrong, which is very possible or I have a naff Fonera!0 -
My PC doesnt pick up the WiFi at all. It just works on the private channel though.the Money Saving Expert team do not moderate forums, so if you see something that shouldnt be here report it! :beer:0

got my fon router 2 weeks ago and it has been a nightmare. First off I couldn't get it to transmit the FON_AP so could not register it so could not use it. After searching the internet and FON boards for hours managed to tinker about with it and get it transmitting this FON_AP signal. All well and good, or so I thought. Now it kept disconnecting every 5 minutes and the MyPlace and FON_AP signal would disappear, which is very infuriating  . It would be useless in this state as no one in their right mind would pay £3 to access my router if it kept dropping the signal and if they did, they might brick my window thinking I was messing about with it or something. Actually there was one day on which it did not disconnect but I can't seem to replicate it
Looked on FON boards and loads of people are having the same issue and FON seems uncapable of fixing it. Since it was useless in the state I got it, I hacked it and have put dd-wrt and for a day it worked well - no dropouts:j But now it has started to drop the signal again
although it is around 15 minutes now between drop outs so better than before. Is anyone else having the same problems?

Hi everyone,
you should be aware that it is actually against almost every ISP's rules to share your broadband connection, i.e. add a La Fonera router to your network and invite others to use your bandwidth.
There is one ISP in the UK which actually encourages and supports FON by explicitly allowing FON use over your broadband line. They are called Fondoo.net (http://www.fondoo.net).
Please read your ISPs Terms and Conditions to see what I mean... Your connection could be terminated without notice. The Fonera sends "heartbeat" signals back and forth to the FON network to ensure it is up and running. ISPs can detect these signals.
FON is a great system and where it is allowed and supported it works very well. Using someone like Fondoo means you can use one ADSL line and share it between your neighbours/flat mates or even make money from it! Don't try this with BT or AOL though!
Cheers
