Evening all
Been feeling ill all day, nauseau from vertigo plus a coldbut my work kids worked good this morning and I had a good evening at uni. Feeling a bit better now though.
I handed back keys to flat today. The landlord was lovely and said he wouldn't charge us for the stained lino in bathroom (laundry hamper had stained it!). It's only a small room and I priced up lino for it for under £20, so he isn't bothered by it.PS:How do people put those extra bits on their posts like sayings etc?
Miffy - do you mean like I have done above? If so, look underneath people's posts, you'll see different buttons. One is 'quote' which will directly quote that post. Then you'll see a double quotation mark button. If you click that one it will multi quote posts so you can quote more than one in a post. Then when you click reply the quoted posts will appear in the reply box. You can then edit (delete) bits so that only what you want will appear. Make sure you keep the [QUOTE....] bits though at beginning and end. Hope that makes sense!
OS wise - did sneaky WM load in old flat before handing keys back, put recycling out.
Have a good evening all

Thanks FB but I really meant like the sayings etc that people always have on their post like your thing about 100 years from now. Glad your teaching observation went well.£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund

Sorry to be so late but it's been one of those days.
We were expecting someone we didn't know for a quick lunch today, so I made all sorts of delicious sandwiches and pushed the boat out and got some posh crisps. That and a slice of HM fruitcake would make an interesting snack lunch I thought. He didn't turn up! Not a phone call or anything. So we sat and ate everything ourselves - RIP diet.:mad::mad:
I know where you are coming from RR. So far the excuses I have had include - 'it's too quiet', 'my wife won't be able to get the car into the drive', (it's a huge drive!) 'my wife has decided she doesn't want to live in this town',(why make an offer for a house there then?) and the best one from the chap that kept us dangling for 4 months and on the day he was due to sign the contract demanded a £50,000 reduction. Never again. Oh, I said that last time.:(
Island Maid. I had to laugh at your comment about the lack of roads. When we first moved here the Rev foolishly said that it was lovely to have no motorways. General indignation. Of course they had a motorway. Further questioning revealed that it was the dual carriageway going round Newport. All half a mile of it! Never mind OS, over here we have Ancient Style!:rotfl:I believe that friends are quiet angels

Islandmaid - nope. I wouldn't either. Electric? Do you mean that the maid won't have to scatter damp tea leaves over the carpet before she sweeps it?
Call the midwife - superb, and very faithful to the book. I have a great interest in it as she talks a lot about Father Joe who did great work among the poor. He used to have a bungalow on the beach at West Wittering next door but one to my best friend's bungalow. We used to spend a couple of weeks there every summer when the boys were little, and Father Joe was always there with gangs of East End children who would never have had a holiday otherwise.

When my OH was young he said he could remember when the only set of traffic lights on the Island were in Newport High Street.Half a mile of duel carriageway counts as a motorway over there. But the good thing is if you buy a car its likely to have very low mileage. My late Pa-in-laws car was 15 years old when he died (a black baby Morris Minor) and it had travelled 14.000 miles. He only went from Northwood to J.S. Whites and back where he worked. He had it from brand new and had only had to buy a new battery for it in all the years he had it. Ma-in-Law sold it to a neighbour for £60.00 (1976) it would be worth a fortune today.Probably still pootling around the IoW still :rotfl::rotfl:0
