Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 18th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
It's not so cold here this morning so hopefully no ice to scrape off the car.
The card swipe system is working ok at work, one staff member has already lost her card, 3 days after getting it, she was most upset when she was told it's £5 for another one. Yesterday's assembly for her class was 'Take responsibility for you actions' despite this she has blamed everyone else about her card. A couple of teachers are complaining about the news that bad teachers can now be sacked more easily, when one of them complained to me I told him I thought it was about time, you can get the sack in other jobs if you are underperforming.
Hubby was told yesterday that there will be lots of overtime available at work in April, it's a way off yet, but good news all the same. DS started his new job yesterday & it seems ok so far, he is kept very busy which is good, no time to get bored.
Hubby's pack up is made, I've had my porridge & a cuppa, so it's time I headed off to work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning HH - and all to follow.
Seems damp outside at present - but too dark to see really! have just let dogs into the garden, not aiming to go further until later on! Had a really lovely birthday yesterday (thanks for all the good wishes) - we went for a walk in the winter garden at Anglesey Abbey which was really beautiful.Followed that with soup (it's a NT property so lovely restaurant) then came home. I did venture to the gym, so a bit of virtue there!. In the evening we visited a friend, who despite a full lecturing day had decided to cook rather than take us out - it was a fabulous meal! So, all in all a great day.
Today I have to tackle some overdue paperwork (reckon my laptop could almost type that unaided it happens so often!). WM is on and I have some handwashing waiting to be rinsed out. Probably not going to be hung outside.. Have also checked my bank account today. I'm trying to do that every day so as to keep on top of things. Must get the ironiong board set up as although the clothes are clean I'm way behind with the ironing. Oh well, radio on, cuppa by my side, just need to actually do it!
Hope you all have a good day today.
Take care.Resolution:

Morning All,
I haven't been on the past few day. Its been so busy over here. I have had winter camp at my school all well, and the afternoons have been spent trying to plan future lessons. My evening have been spent trying to plan my Japan trip. The friend I will be with in Tokyo has had some bad news, her nan passed away this morning, and although it was expected, I dont think it makes things easier, especially as she is on the other side of the world.
Well I told my school that I wouldnt be renewing my contract as I just can't commit to another year away from my family. I feel quite a sense of relief now a decision has been made. On the other hand, I am worried about finding a job back in the UK. Although I think I am qualified I really struggle with application forms and selling myself. Fingers crosses something will turn up in the end.
I am not going to be around much for the next few weeks as I leave for Japan on Friday morning.
Have a great day everyone and hugs to all who need them.
JG - sorry its late, but congratulation on little Eliza, it is a beautiful name.0 -

Morning all,
Not so cold here today :T off to work for me, which is still so busy, the days fly by.
Will drop dd at the station, and dogs to my mums for the day, thanks for all the suggestions and pm's regarding the migraines, :T, you lovely lot x
Dinner tonight is chicken fried rice, all home made, with lots of veggies, and brown rice, and left over chicken from monday.
Meant to ask did anyone watch 'call the midwife' on Sunday ? I read the book which was fab, and the series looks great too.
Will do a wash tonight, and get it on the airer.
Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx0 -
Ruby - I watched it - and loved it. I need something gentle on a Sunday evening and my Mum was from South London so its amazing to watch! My MIL was a midwife too - shame she's not still around to watch it.
Morning all. Another hectic day here (never seems to be anything else!). I painted my new radiator cover last night so will think of putting that up tonight. Today I'm attacking the conservatory and the rest of the sitting room as (joy of joys) our offer was accepted last night, so I've reduced the price of our house.
Still drinking coffee and boys playing lego - need to buck my ideas up otherwise we'll all be late for school. Serious case of CBA-itus! Hugs to those in need xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Morning All
DD awake with earache from half four and now the calpol has take effect has been crying and moaning because she can't go to school! DS-D came out of school yesterday because she felt sick and had stomach pains....had to come out o work, pick up DH and DD as she was getting out o school then go up to the big school and pick up sick girl. On the way back DH wanted a Kfc and both girls wanted ice-cream.... I was a bit p!ssed off that I got dragged out of work as she was supposedly too poorly to stay at school but managed to snaffle ice-cream 5 minutes later!!
Anyhooooo got myself a beautiful purple basque thing after christmas which wouldn't go anywhere near round me (even with DH's brute force assistance!) ....today I am wearing it, comfortably and got in it on my own steam lol. Even tho I'm only going to work I feel great and keep admiring my own cleavage :rotfl:
Off to my mums for the weekend a week on friday and i'm starting to look forward to it....I'm ready for a break - especially as the Twins have been here for a couple of weeks (although they got the keys to their new place last night :j) it's all been a bit 'stressful'
Have a good day - Hugs where needed xxClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Much milder but now raining. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Rugby training last night was cancelled due to the frozen ground so dinner was "if its", DS1 had 1 LO portion of lasagne with half a massive jacket pot, beans and mushrooms, DH and DS2 had egg, bacon, sausage, LO mashed potato and beans and I had the other half of the massive jacket pot, salad and mushroom omlette - as you can probably tell used up lots of odds and ends! Remembered to get the meat out of the freezer for tonight's dinner so we will be having beef stew, dumplings, mash and veg.
Was reasonably productive again yesterday got the housework done, continued with the washing, drying and ironing, changed our bed, also did some work towards the rally and some other work on the pc. Today I will be endeavouring to get the washing, drying and ironing completely up to date, sorting the paperwork currently on my desk, doing some cooking/baking, also need to clean out my work bag as it's a complete mess, will also do a menu plan for the rest of this week and next week and shopping list for Friday. Have a few other jobs on the list too so will keep myself busy!
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x
