Well done, keep going. :TI've also just signed up to the nhs smoke free website and the giving up smoking thread on here. I've set my quit date for Saturday, will hopefully see quit smoking advisor at children's centre on Friday. I am actually almost excited about it now, thinking how much money this will save, as well as being better for me, my children and my business. Whilst I know it will be hard the benefits are so large that it seems stupid not to do it. Am going to write lists of the benefits and stick them up on my back door (I usually go out my back door to smoke) so that I see it whenever I'm in the kitchen reminding me why I'm doing this.
Are hair clippers expensive? I did my eldests hair a couple of times with scissors and made such a mess of it. I was taking him to a children's hairdress, who charged £9, but cut back by having his hair cut by my hairdresser instead.
I have cancelled a couple of things already, things like tumble tots, which is horrendously expensive, particularly when paying for 2 children! I am trying to use more of the children's centre play groups and activities which are all free.
I am going to set myself a spending budget of £50 for groceries and try to plan the meals out so I don't end up doing extra shops (or shock horror, get a takeaway if I haven't worked out what's for dinner!!).
So far today I have made £7 selling things on facebook and haven't spent anything as I haven't been out!!!0 -
            Well done OP

Also it would be worth posting an ad on Gumtree for your childminding services.

Hair clippers, really good WAHL ones (as used in most barbers) are about £40 (I recommend the Taper Plus which you can google). You can buy cheaper, but my last set lasted 14years and they are head and shoulders the best you can get. I use them for me, my two DSs, and the family children all prefer them so the sisters all converge round ours to use the clippers when their boys need doing.
Well done on starting your journey. With some hard choices, you have plent of room for making savings, and when CCCS advise the best course of action for your circumstances, you will be in a good position to plan your way through to a happy conclusion.Like all revolutions, guerrilla goodness begins slowly, with a single act. Let it be yours.

Thanks all and I just wanted to mention that my ex is giving me £150 for the kids a month (that's what the 'other income' is on my SOA). I know he won't give me any more, in fact he's always asking to borrow off me (but I have got tough and started saying no now, after my best friend had a go at me about lending him money!!).
Right, my eldest is at nursery now and my youngest down for his nap, so time to do some phoning around, BT and Sky first I think, wish me luck!Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -
Check the Arg@s website for clippers, there are plenty of WAHL ones (like ours too) on there for £10-£30 so the price of one or two haircuts.DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0

As youve a teaching qualification could you do some tutoring?0
 -
It's early years teaching, I doubt many people want 'tutors' for 4 year olds!! Also then I have the problem of what I do with my own children while I do it, the childminding works so well cos I don't have to find childcare for them. Thanks for the idea tho.Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0
