Pretty sure only ford had element heated front windscreen, I believe they have a patent on it so nobody else can do it. They're pretty good though.
Some Volvo's do - under licence from Ford. I've had 3 Fords in a row and that's been a significant part of the decision. I startup, get front and back screens heating while I scrape the side windows and by the time I've done both sides the screen is clear.
I need to think of something new here...

Cars of fairly standard issue have had heated front and rear windows for some time. Scraping my windscreen and not using the inbuilt heater seems to have done for most of the lines on that heater...

I presume you were scraping because it was quicker and easier than waiting for the heater to do the job though, right? Which was kinda my point...

Its a money saving forum after all maybe you should try it :)

Well, if somebody doesn't buy any de-icer at all they are saving more money than you who does buy de-icer but in summer for cheaper.

There are alternatives to de-icer, like just scraping the windscreen for free.

So just because they may do this you call them tight! But they are just money saving, just like you saving money buying cheaper in summer.

    Pot, kettle....

    Don't get it do you?

Kwikfit was the last one I had for free, the time before that was from my council who handed out a number free.

I have several that I have never paid for.

In any case, I have a Ford with a heated front windscreen which clears frost in minutes, I could even use a Tesco clubcard to help the process if I so wish once the heaters have done the majority, you get them for free.

Push my thanks button now I've saved you money.

I fail to see your logic, how is buying it in summer when it's cheap just as tight as not buying it at all?

    :rotfl:

Maybe by waiting for several months for summer to come along in order to save a few pennies on de-icer when it is needed now, by any chance?

I assume they brought it to save some money and use it later on in the year, dont think you need dicer in summer, although with frosty reception you give maybe they need it in summer on youclapping.gif

Sorry does not compute. How does looking for bargains and actually spending money got to do with being tight,

    It's all relative.

If I seen Sir Richard Branson in ASDA picking over the reduced items with the other vultures then I would conclude he is tight.

If somebody wants to save a few pence on de-icer by waiting for the summer I'd also conclude they were tight.

Kwikfit most people wouldn't dream of using them, I hope you dont let them near your car it could cost you more in the long run as they tend to bump up the costs of parts which you dont need. nly last summer my daughter made the mistake of going there. Oh you need a new exhaust/catalytic converter. She came home said she needs £300. I said go else where gave her a garage, costs less than £100 job done it didnt need a full exhaust

Using a heated screens costs more, it uses energy from your battery/fuel so that's not free either.

I pass on the thanks though
