Icy Morning Morons

Tootling to work this morning I ended up behind a little red car that was all over the place, crossing over the white lines onto the other lane, wouldn't go over 15 mph and was constantly braking even though there was no reason to. I thought the driver may have been having a heart attack at the wheel.
Wasn't till we stopped at some traffic lights I realised why! All her windows and side mirrors (except the rear window) where covered in ice and there was an envelope sized patch she had scrapped of the windscreen so she could she straight ahead  The nutter wasn't having a heart attack she was struggling to see past her bonnet causing her to drive so badly.
Honestly there are some complete and utter f**king morons on the road round this area. I really did want to get out and slap her but apparently this would have been frowned upon. Anyone else seen anything like this?

thats ridiculous! she's lucky not to have had an accident! only takes a minute to de-ice the car for crying out loud0

we saw one the other day who had just cleared a piece about A4 size to see through, really can't understand the sort of person who thinks that it's safe to drive like that?0
-
Should have taken a photo and showed the police, could kill someone driving like that!0

Sorry that made me laugh, I can just picture it in my head.

Yep we get them morons too round here although it the ones who disregard the highway code and cut others up. Im quite amazed how these morons passed the driving test.0 -
Can't stand driving on the roads when people do things like this.
I won't leave the house unless all my windows and lights are free from ice/snow. If it has snowed the roof and bonnet have to be clear too.
If I have raindrops on the side windows when I get in the car, I am out again with a squeege to clear them off, as my Toyota has had a habit of not clearing the side windows when you wind them down. Been like that since new.
As long as I can see the idiots clearly, I feel much more in control.
It is an offence to drive, with obscured vision, but try telling that to some numpties0 -
Some people are so tight to have to spend £1.50 of some de-icer. I know many of us have to cut back etc I stock up on de-icer in summer when its cheap. I got loads and haven't used it once this winter its been too mild where I am and dont use car first thing
I try utmost to make sure I can see clean windows all time, plenty of liquid for windscreen. I even coat car windows with water repellent.
Spending a few quid can literally save lives0 -

What most of these people don't realise that not being able to see or having a hazard that could cause you not to see is illegal and could cost you a fine and points on your licence. Maybe that's the only way some people will learn to hit them with a fine and points?
It also includes having snow on the roof of the vehicle that could slip down onto the windscreen under braking, onto the rear screen when proceeding or blowing off onto other vehicles. If you can't clear it then you should leave the car parked.
For frost a good trick if the car is near to a house or garage with a power supply is to run an extension lead into the car and plug in a small fan heater a few minutes before you leave. This will not only de-ice the windows but warm the car and help prevent misting up. Obviously be careful as don't have any connections outside, ensure clear air to both inlet and outlet of heater, make sure lead enters through door so not so tight to crush and damage it (good idea just to have door on the safety catch if seal very tight), the lead goes up into car to prevent water tracking down it, plug it through a very sensitive RCD/earth leakage trip at source, etc. If you do put it in the car the night before don't switch it on until just a few minutes before the journey and keep a good watchful eye on it. Never be tempted to pour hot water onto frozen glass as it can crack or shatter. If you do use water make sure its very tepid but this can freeze again.0 -

Round here it seems that getting an extra 5 mins in bed is more important than spending that 5 mins ensuring your car is actually safe to drive.
Thankfully it was raining this morning so no icy cars to avoid0
