Should chuggers be allowed to target the financially vulnerable?

Oh they do annoy me. Last one I got accosted by was Guide Dog puppies or something in West Bridgford at Christmas - I was wearing my Notts hoodie and he actually admitted he only stopped me because he was curious to know what the NRFC on my hoodie stood for!! I wish I had told him and bogged off then...
What hacks me off is when you give to a charity and they pester you to up your donation. I've donated £2 a month to Cancer Research for 2 years and not once have they pestered me to up my donation. I get a thank you message at Xmas and occasional newsletters with updates but they've never asked me to give any more.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Last time I was approached by a chugger ( who had just watched me leave the Job Centre ! ) he shouted " do you like animals ? "
"Yes they taste lovely" I replied . . .
He didn't take it any further ! LOLDFW NERD# 1175Proud Member of Sealed Pot Challenge #5 ~ 1479 cashless_wonder~*DEBT FREE & LOVING IT*~0 -

Used to see a lot of them up and down Tottenham Court Road when I worked in town. A lot started off with "Can I have a minute of your time?" to which a simple answer was "No". Or if I was being bolshie - "I'm a management consultant and my usual fee is £500 per day. That's £1.04 per minute. You've now had 50p for free the rest is payable in advance."I need to think of something new here...0

The vulnerable dont have a label on them saying "Hello im vulnerable"
Indeed, so the targeting is indiscriminate. If they were only allowed to target people wearing a label giving their consent to be approached then this would mean those that don't want to be approached won't be. However if this were enforced then I imagine it would most likely completely obliterate chugging.http://www.drinkaware.co.uk/alcohol-and-you/work-and-study/students
The National Union of Students estimates that the average student spends £675 a year on socialising.
I spent £722.30 in 2011 on what is entered into my spending diary as "Entertainment" (which is broadly speaking socialising).
The money doesn't really go that far to be honest. Saw a couple of movies, had a few beers with mates from time to time. Went out clubbing just once that year as far as I can tell from the diary. Some of it was networking (evenings at conferences and courses etc.) and some was social "obligation" i.e. on other's requests (weddings, birthdays, work events etc.)
I spent it on 76 days out of the 365 and it averages £1.98 a day or £9.50 an instance. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -

Why tell a chugger you're in debt? What's it got to do with them? Sorry but these people need to man up a little. The world can be an unforgiving place and aggressive techniques to get people to part with their cash for whatever reason are commonplace.
Rather than whine on with excuses about how you're ever so sorry and you can't afford to make a donation and you're on benefits and you're in debt, blah blah blah, just do what everyone else does, grow a pair, say 'not interested' and walk away. (Not that this is aimed at you personally, sunshine).

I scared one away!
As the background - going through the Derby chugger gauntlet run (anyone who lives in Derby will know where I mean) we'd had some really obnoxious Help The Aged ones obviously targetting the women and making fairly offensive comments about their shopping bags, general appearance, what they were wearing and well one of them had failed to comprehend the meanings of the phrases (in descending order of politeness and used in order), "no thank you", "leave me alone", "get lost" and "eff off and quit bothering me creep." I did complain to the charity in question about the behaviour of this particular bunch - also doing the walking directly in front of you jumping out thing (oh I'm going to run so many twerps over when I get the pram and they try this).
On the return journey they'd been joined by yet another charity's group and one started making a beeline for me - I just commented (ok in a somewhat irrate manner since the other lot had wound me up so much) "I strongly suggest you do not bother me" (was actually in quite a hurry anyway) - and he just ran away in terror!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
The front door buzzer to my flat went the other day,on answering it I got "Red Cross..." from who ever it was,to which I replied "Sorry I'm not working so I cannot afford a donation",the person toodled off but not after a sigh that came across as "Another tight bast@rd"....0

How do Chuggers manage to convince people to fill in their personal details and bank no. in the street??
Also do they tell you how much commission the chuggers company gets out of it??
Stories heard that it can take many months until your £ money starts to profit the charity!!!0
