Should chuggers be allowed to target the financially vulnerable?

I think that people should bear in mind that, annoying as they are, they're only people trying to earn an honest living, just like the rest of us.0

I had one at the door last week, he just wouldnt take no for an answer, he even started getting the forms out for me to give him my bank details (like thats going to happen), he put his bag in the doorway so I couldn't shut the door. He was saying its only £2 a week, think of all the poor animals you can help for that tiny amount!!! When I finally managed to get the door shut he said he'd call back later when i wasn't so busy!!! Needless to say I didn't open the door the second time!0

An honest living?
You do realise the commision they 'earn' will swallow up a whole years donation from the average person?
In fact maybe we should all start signing up and get them thinking they are quids in then cancel.0 -

Most people work to targets rather than receive commission but, even if they did, losing a percentage of donation is better than no donation at all.
There is no way that someone earns more in commission than the donation they have solicited.0 -

So how much have they solicited if someone sets up a direct debit for say £10 per month.
I can assure you these chuggers will get more than £10 in commision.0 -
My Mam tells them if they come to the door, that she doesn't have a bank account.
They soon go. :T
There seems to have been a chugger breeding programme going off in Barnsley t/c. There must have been about 8 in a 20 yards radius near Specsaversa the other day. I normally say I am on my way to an appointment, smile and rush past. One day I signed up for a regular donation with a well known national charity, I can't remember why but I think I might have just had a payrise and decided to share it. Well it started off as something like £8 a month, then they phoned me and explained about a current crisis and I increased it, then they phoned again and I said, "Okay I will increase it (I think the first increase was to £10 and this was £15 per month) but if you contact me again I will cancel and donate to someone else." Few months later they phoned again, started to go through the script and I stopped them and told them I was cancelling the donation and I did.Sell £1500

We had chuggers on the tube yesterday! Just for change, not bank details, so wasn't as bad. But it's harder to ignore them when you're stuck on a carriage! They couldn't have picked a worse time though train was in zone 3 and everyone looked so tired, we had already had one of them a few stops before. Apparently different groups had challenges to raise the most money!
I do hate the ones at the door, first question they usually ask me is, when they see me are either - are your parents home? Or are you 25 or over? I get rather offended at the parents remark, I am 24! I'm lucky to be 24 I can say no I'm not 25 or over. When I'm 30 I'll still probably say that, if I can get away with it lol0 -
It took me two pages to suss out what the blooming hell chuggers was!
Had never heard of that word before......We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
